Nice to see so many folk doing a smuch as they can to **** up any trace of decent residuals these cars ever held!

Your car is worth way more than this, even for a quick sale you'll get more, but not on here.

I think thats a realistic price for this car. I sold my 99 turbo over 12 months ago and got £9100 for it. Since then the used car market has gone stale.

People saying its too cheap aren't helping the chap with his sale.

I think you need to accept that cars like this depreciate fairly fast.

Good luck with the sale.

Bollocks!

I traded my MY00 in 2 months ago and got £12k for it (40k miles) against an STI7.

A typical reply from a Scot!

Anyone who pays £12k for a MY00 Impreza is a fool. I have seen a few around the £9k mark with this sort of mileage.

If you can't say anything positive to help the guy sell his car, don't bother posting.

I feel kinda sick now. I just paid 9400 for a Silver MY99 Turbo on a V plate with FSSH and 23k.

Mind you, the same car sitting at the local dealer an MY99 on a T plate with 32k and leather was 12200 with no trade in.

I still see Scoobies of the same age for sale in the local press and ad papers for over 10k though.

Yes, you can find MY00 for 10k,the only problem is that they're usually 5 doors,(YUK !) green (YUK !)or have 60k+ miles on them.

Finding a low mileage nice blue 4-door(Mmmmm) MY00 for 10k is going to be hard work.

I also think this is a very cheap example and should advertise elsewhere as everything has to be priced stupidly cheap on here to sell!!! (take a look at those 18" oz wheels, couldn't shift them on here for £750, within 3-4 days on ebay were at £810+ postage, i know where i will sell things)

You could sell your granny on ebay, people will buy anything.

If the guy wants to sell his car for 9 grand thats up to him, got nothing to do with anyone else.

you will have better luck in the autotrader, i tried for a while to sell my uk my00 on here for £9995, then after another 2 week in the autotrader i finally let it go for £8000 plus £1400 for the remaining mods.

I'd say for a Euro spec car with that mileage £9k is a realistic price.
Tony Burns has a UK car with half the mileage and a PPP for £12,995 that is also very realistic when you trawl through other Subarus on Autotrader.
This for sale forum is the only place I know of where Impreza's are de-valued by other enthusiast owners. God knows why, you'd think they would try and keep prices as high as possible not the other way around.

Unhappy

I was going to sell my RB5 for £12,000 ono, but then based on seeing similar cars advertised for 13k+ I raised the price to 13k. After 2 weeks in Auto Trader I had no calls, so then I dropped it to 12k and still no calls. So now I am thinking of ignoring book values and other peoples optimistic views of the secondhand Scooby market and dropping the price to 11k ono. If you want to sell your car you have to accept that the market is dead.

It's all very well pontificating as to the secondhand market for Imprezas and what I might be doing for residuals but you have to be realistic, the secondhand market for cars is completely knackered. And Imprezas are now no exception. I've been driving them since 1995 and the market's gone full circle, when I sold my first MY95/N 4 door in ambulance white (yes I know!) I had a hell of a job shifting it because nobody'd ever heard of the things. These cars are expensive to insure and juicy on fuel. And at the end of the day *its only worth what you can get for it*

Why are people getting so worked up???

Fair enough if you get a good price on a part-exchange!! That's the dealer giving you a sweetener to buy a more expensive car!! I don't know many people who have had a good discount buying a new STI, but I know a few who have been given generous trade in prices!

I recently sold a W-reg UK MY00 in DBM, with air con, fSsh, 69k miles for £9k and no warrenty left. Looking at the market, Autotrader, Scoobynet, local paper, etc I thought that £9k was a fair price!

Bearing in mind that a couple of days after I sold my car, I found a similar car at a local dealer with 71k miles on the clock, UK, air con, full history and a years warranty for £8,995!!!

Just because it's a Subaru it doesn't mean you won't lose money!!!

Most cars depreciate 50% in the first 3 years. So that means all these MY00's that are 3 years old, should be a reasonable £10k. And really forget about the mods as we all know in the real world, dealer fit mods may only be worth 50% of what list price is (maybe!!!)

The cars selling for around the £9k mark have double the normal/average mileage!!

Yes you will see similar spec cars advertised for a lot more, but do they sell at that price!! Not often!

Personally, I would strip it to standard and sell of the modifications for extra cash! As you *WILL* get your asking price for a standard car!

That said and done.... Good luck with your sale.

Right then, so will all these buyers form an orderly queue........you know the story, one or two tyre kickers offering me absolutely nothing for the car (8 grand, I ask you, d'you think I'm that desperate yet...) and photos mailed all over the place.

Serious buyers with cash not a chance, zero. Funny really because if I wanted to buy my fourth Impreza here's where I'd be......

And yes I could organize finance through a motor trader friend of mine.
