New directions in life mean that its time to sell my scooby
I've had a great time with it during my ownership and have had 20,000 miles of fun trouble free motoring.
Pictures of my Car
The Car
* T-reg (1999) car in DBM, 4 door
* 55,000 miles
* Full Subaru Service History & recently serviced. The history on the car is exceptional.
* About 6 months Road Tax & MOT
Alterations
* Crystal clear indicator lenses and side repeaters
* Steel braided brakes hoses with Dot 5.1 fluid
* Black Diamond grooved brake disks
* Bumpsteer & Geometry set up by Falkland in Fife
* Blitz boost gauge with a-pillar pod
* Single CD player
* Phenoix Gold uprated front speakers with tweeters fitted in door card - sounds way better than the standard set up
* Custom fit carpet mats with metal kick plate
You'll note that none of the mods affect insurance and that there are no engine mods. The car used to run a full decat (very safe MY99 mod) but this has been sold already.
I have reciepts for all the servicing and work I've had done to the car during my ownership.
The price is £8,500 and NO offers will be considered. This price takes account of the cars condition which is generally fine but not mint. The car has a number of light dings but nothing that bothers me that much and I am pretty picky. Over and above this there is a patch of repair (paint work only - not crash damage) to the roof of the car which hasn't been blended perfectly. You can 'just' make it out in certain light conditions but 99% of the time the roof looks totally normal. IMHO this isn't work that needs rectified as a) you can hardly ever see it and b) when the conditions are correct for you to see it its on the roof!! £3-400 spent would restore the body work to a very nice condition and then you'd have a fine example of an MY99. Personally if it was me I wouldn't bother - I assure you that it WILL get dinged again a lot if you park anywhere near another car as scooby panels are made from tinfoil! For peeps that accept 4 year old Impreza's are difficult to keep mint this car is a total steal at £8500. For others a further £500 investment would give you a very nice MY99 for £9000 which is still a very good price I feel.

Not sure yet. Probably something that burns oil
I want to free up money to invest in my flat so the scooby has to go. I also drive 50 miles every day so the fuel costs mount up.

get up ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Is this a good price peeps? I though £8.5k for a good condition medium mileage MY99 with brilliant history and a few other extras was good. I paid £11200 for this car a year ago and that was a cheap price at the time. If I end up selling it for £8k then it'll have deprecaited as much in the same mileage and time period as my Saxo VTS did. This is worrying given that the residuals on a Saxo are horrific and that the VTS was split new so lost a grand the moment I drove it off the forecourt. Are scoobys REALLY that bad now???

I know you think the depreciation is harsh, but still good for a car.
If T-reg, the car is 4-4.5 years old....in fact, the same age/spec as my old T-reg MY99 (sold in 2001 for £16k which was amazing given it was 2 years old!! - back in the good times eh!).
New, it was £21k. After 3 years, you're looking at 50% for a good car, which is £10.5k. You bought it for slightly more than this figure but residuals were still a bit stronger on this car last year, plus if you bought from a dealer (did you?), guess extra was expected.
After 5 years, I'm sure 30% of original value is "ballpark" for your average mundane car, so interpolating all these figures, I reckon you've got it about right...
Plus selling in late autumn leading up to Xmas, in the middle of a job crisis in the Scottish software industry (75% of your market - geeks!), I hope you have some luck.
Not criticising at all - just observation for those that feel resale values of Scoobies are through the floor. They're not bad compared to most......

Funny barge I seem to remember having my foot planted to the floor the whole way ![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)

Imlach I bought it privately just over a year ago and I see your point. I just can't believe how much the prices have dropped in this last year.
This is a great car for £8.5k in my opinion! I wished I could have bought a decent impreza for that kind of money when I was in the market. I could have spent about £4-5k on mods

Kenny,
Just stick it in the autotrader (if you haven't already) as this is a good price for someone. It should sell fine at that price - in fact I'd probably put it in at 9k to give you some negotiation room. My wagon sold eventually, it just took 5 or 6 weeks, so be patient.
Unlikely to sell on here though imho, unless it's ridiculously cheap or something out the ordinary.
Parkers say :
New - £20895
A1 - £9945
Good - £9425
Poor - £7065
Trade - £8290
(for ave mileage)
... so your price is fair, as I'd class it as good.
Just hang in there !
Dave
