I was just enquiring because i phoned a trader about one a few days ago which had the same spec and it was considerably cheaper!
Mind you, it was sold within 8 hours of it being in the Auto Trader.
Price is a bit high for me,but i hope you get what youre asking.

You CAN buy IMPORTS for £16,700, but they usually don't have:
(1) CAT 1 Alarm / Immobilisers (£400 fitted)
(2) Subaru Approved 3yr Warranty & AA cover (typical 3yr warranty cost £800 - if you get a problem you've got to take it back to the importer which is probably a couple of hundred miles away - do you trust their work?)
(3) On the Road charges (usually at least £400 - tax, 1st reg fee, fuel, number plates, valets, delivery to importers premises from the docks)
(4) Tracker (Tracker Monitor - £495) lets face it, you need one for your insurance to be half reasonable!
(5) Approved accessories (in my case STi spoiler, Morette headlights, gold wheels, side markers and indicators, entry guards - £2300 fitted)
(6) The waiting - usually the best part of 6-8 months, unless it's from a car supermarket - who obviously know the Subaru brand inside out - NOT!
TOTAL cost of Import - £21,095. IF IT WAS THAT SIMPLE EVERYONE WOULD DO IT!

Don't want to diss your sale, but imports these days come with a 3yr warranty (UK dealers can carry out warranty work),CAT1 alarm & OTR charges included.
I reckon you'll struggle to get £15k privately, if you trade it in you may get £14k.
MY02 owners were well and truly shafted

Fair dues John, I looked into the import thing before I brought mine from a main dealer. I just know for a fact that the money you save initially is lost when you come to sell, especially if you p/ex - the first question is always "Is it an Import?"

I don't think £16,995 is unreasonable for a car less than a year old, in mint condition, with less than 8700 miles on it, with no service to do until September next year, with all the right extras. You'd have to pay over £18,000 from a dealer I'm sure!

hi mate,i can see where you are coming from price wise the car owes you that much and you obviously want it back, but i brought this weekend a 03 wrx with 4700 miles on it for 16500,yes this car is a belguim import, but who cares, the only difference in spec is no side airbags but you do get bucket seats which are better,i have whats left of a full 3 yr warranty from david hendry cars, plus the former owner had spent 2800 quid at tsl motorsport on top,i was honestly looking at bug eyes before i realised how cheap the new shape ones are,i wish you all the best with your sale but you may have to drop price if you want a quickish sale

But you won't find a UK car for that price. I'm not against imports, (I've owned one!) they just don't hold their money like a UK car will, or be worth anywhere near a UK cars value if you need to p/ex.

I disagree.
There is a guy on here called Chins, he recently sold his unmodified UK MY03 for £16,999 he probably lost about £3k in 6 months.
The bloke flogging the MY03 import will probably lose about £1k if he bought it for the advertised price of £16,750 on Litchfields for instance.
You on the other hand paid in the region of £21k for you car and accesories and more than likely sell it for £16k, losing about £5k.
Give me a Euro import any day of the week.

There's no point in saying this cars worth "X amount" and that cars worth "Y amount" because it doesn't mean a thing if no-one will buy it at that price.
A car is only worth what someone will pay you for it.

The 02 car was virtually std apart from a front strut brace,PPP,new tyres all round.
What you have to bear in mind is that this was a dealer price and not a private one.If there are modifications then generally you dont get anywhere near what you pay for them, especially when its a private sale(dealers get you anyway possible).Dont get me wrong though,when/if i get the cash from the sale of my M3 i would be very interested if the price was nearer £15K,because its a cracking looking car
