most aps are on 4 pots its only because piston area is larger than most callipers when you get to 343 and larger they go to six pots

All the 330mm AP conversions I've ever seen have been six-pot.

You can get the AP 4pot caliper kit with the larger 330m disk. Its always been an option but most people usually opt for 6-pots when using bigger disks.

A key decision in this some time ago was down to the availability of pads for the 6 pot caliper - only a few manufacturers produced them to work well with the subaru such. And the pads were (and probably still are) more expensive. There are loads of 4 pot pads to choose from by comparison.

The pad availability and costs a running factor if you do LOTS of trackdays and use your brakes hard. Disks I think are about £20 each more for replacements.

I know all this because on my second scoob I ran 4 Pots for this very reason.

I've not been in the scoob scene for over a 1 1/2 now but I would buy them if I was looking for better brakes.

I think scoobymania even sell this style package

Mike ?

Nothing wrong with AP 4 Pots and 330mm Discs, don't understand what the confusion is here....

I had a set on my car, and they were simply stunning, tbh I think that the 6 pots are overkill for the road, but fine for track, wheras the 330mm and 4 pots are superb on the road.

Agree with Toby and Ian, nothing wrong with the 4 pots and I doubt you'll notice the difference over 6 pots in real use IMHO. I have the AP 4 pots on 310mm discs (less stopping power than 330mm) but these are still better than anything else tried (and I've tried 'em all).

BTTT for a real bargain.

scoobySTI/WRX,

Not had a scooby for over 18 months now, Had three until then. My last one was this...but I moved onto something quicker and a daily driver (Golf PD150 - more torque than a WRX and 50+mpg regardless of how you drive it)

still miss her so, only the best HKS, OZ, Alcon and Defi components. probably the best all round car I ever drove...certified 317bhp, 289lbft with no ECU modifications other than prodrives own.
