Question

I'm horrified at what I discovered on Saturday.

Was looking at possibility of part ex-ing my unmodded MY99 Turbo for an ex demo 206 GTi to cut down on running costs etc.

I bought the Scoob last Feb for £13500 from a Subaru main dealer, and the Pug salesman was talking about £7000!

Can this be right? Please tell me it's worth more than that!

As a trade price it i snot too far out... yes it is slightly low, but not by much. When is the Mot, service etc due? Might have some impact on the price. Do the wheels need a refurb, any dents that would need to be repaired before they could sell it again?

The release of 2 newer facelift models since your model will reduce the prices too....

If you buy from a dealer and trade in to adealer there is always going to be a big price diff...

Just had the 60k service done, including new front discs and cambelt. Full Subaru Service History. Wheels all ok. The car is immaculate actually.

Just feel gutted that I've lost so much. Could try to sell it privately, and would expect closer to £9k then I guess.

Andrewj,
A MY99 would be ideal for me... And i'll be in the market for one in a week or two, so... If its still around and your not going to take the dealers offer? i could probably better their price and you'd be sure of a good home for her.

Either way Dealers have to be the WORST way of moving form car to car! (price wise)

Can you tell me any more details about the car, mileage, mods, etc etc,

I have a car up for sale this week, so lets see what happens..

Closer to 8k than 9k and i'm sure you could easily move it!
Like i said i'd be interested around that figure.

BTW- i sold an immacualte Jag 1996 N (current shape x300), it had 103k miles and a full Jag history longer than your arm, £4.2k!

Dark Blue (the ONLY Scoob colour!) MY99 Turbo saloon.
Mine since February 2003, when I bought it from TH White Subaru, Cirencester.
Had then done 45,000, has now done just over 60,000 miles.
It's been serviced twice since February and it had had the 45k service just before I bought it. 60k service last week cost £743, but did include new front discs and cambelt. All services carried out by Subaru dealers.
No modifications.
Kenwood 6 CD multi-changer & air con.
MOT till May 2004.
One new tyre (puncture) others ok for another 6 months I think.
It goes like hell, and I love it, but I'm beginning to think that long term, the Group 17 Insurance, 28 mpg and 7,500 mile service intervals will cripple me financially.
I'd need closer to 9k than 8k though. Not totally decided yet...perhaps as the memory of the £743 gradually dims, I'll persuade myself to hold on to it!
You can contact me at aj3110@hotmail.com if you need to.

Cheers,

AJ

Not being funny, but 9k is still too low.
You can sell on auto-trader for an easy £10.5k
9k is only a scoobynet price!!

Don't forget a Tradesman has to make his dollar too hence the £7k price tag. I would agree with the majority and would have thought £9k ish is achievable for a private sale.

I have to agree I have a 99 classic so always have an eye on the prices.Dealers are still putting 11-12k tags on 99-00 models I saw one in warrington last week for 13k on an x plate I thought this was takin the p*** a bit, but the same dealer had an r reg up for 10k a couple of months ago and someone was looking at it when I drove past thought about stopping and offering him mine but then I came to my senses and drove on smiling.

Good luck with the sale...
No point in getting into the 'too cheap/ too expensive' thang.
If it sells you'll know.

But autotrader can show about 5-6 under 9k for a MY99.
I'm of to see a my99 with 66k @ 8.4k, expecting to pay 7.8k ish.

This isn't personal against Scooby's it just the market and its crap. Great if your buying one and S**t if your selling.

I lost 4k on the last car i sold after owning it for 18 months and it wasn't an Impreza!

There maybe MY99's below 8.5k but most won't be good condition.

Just bought a MY99 last month, and went to see a few sub 8.5k cars and they were c**p, dints all over, paint work, missing service history etc etc. Cars which would be hard to sell on.
