AFAIK you can go higher boost and BHP with an STi ic over a UK one
TBH i dont know the ins/outs and why fors, but that's what ive read on here about it before.
I'm sure if you ask in technical someone will give you a better answer

I found the sti one a lot easier to change as the red rubber hose is much easier to get on the turbo inlet(/outlet whatever it is) than the crappy black std plastic on the uk i/c
only bummer was removing it, i had to take the strut brace off first, which i didnt realise i had to do until it was half way off.
