I have a tek 3 ecu for MY 99/00. originally mapped by Bob Rawle.
This has the tek licence which saves £350 off the price of a tek3 remap
plus you get to keep your original ecu.

scooby k, I have a MY99 and am looking to get it remapped. what mods have you got on your car that the ecu has been modded for?
I will be seeing bob at the end of this month, at the rolling roll day at prosport in stockport, and he has already said he would remap my existing ecu, for the full price obviously.
How would having this ecu save me money on the remap?
I have a bpm 3" exhaust, tsl downpipe, hks panel filter.
cheers,
chris.
ps, where abouts in the midlands are you?

Hi Chris, it was remapped with a vf23 turbo. A remap on my ecu would cost £350 as opposed to £650+vat on your ecu. you would be able to retain your original ecu if you ever wanted to return to standard. so the main gain would be that you get an extra ecu.

hi ken, I'm not sure I understand how this would work. If I bought your ecu, would I need to get it remapped again, and how much would that cost me over what I had paid to you?
Would it cost £350? + £350 to buy your ecu?
and I of course get to keep my old ecu on top! If thats the case, I can't afford it m8, sorry. I was under the impression that I would be able to buy your ecu, plug in, and go faster!

cw42, your spec off your car needs to be as near to the sellers as possible, im sure ive spoken to a mapper in the past who quoted around £200ish for a tweek to an existing licence holder £350+£200, obv u would need to clarify with a mapper for a remap cost

Hi Chris, yes mate u would have to have it set up to suit your mods as Andy stated. The main gain is keeping your ecu standard, also works out slightly cheaper than having yours mapped.

Chris, what you're missing is that this ECU will have the ECUTEK licence on it. When you pay your £650 (+vat!) to Bob, that's for the licence PLUS the remap. If you buy this one, you won't have to pay for the licence again, just the remap (labour time usually).
£350 seems quite expensive for the remap, but maybe speak to Bob and see how the charging works. I imagine it depends on how much time it takes to do.
Either way it seems this will still be cheaper than just paying the £650+ to Bob directly.
650+vat=763.75
350+350=700.
and you get the bonus of keeping your std ECU for selling time. It depends how much you value that I guess !
HTH !

Thanx for that dave. Chris have a word with Bob you may be able to persuade him to remap cheaper for cash as its one he's already mapped once before. He knows me so he'll know the ecu were talking about.

Si cannot believe this has not sold. you would think the idea of keeping the original ecu and saving on the price of a complete remap would appeal

hey scooby k, yes I did talk to bob, but the fact of the matter is, I just cant afford anything right now.
just spent £650 on new brakes all round (would rather be able to stop fast than go fast!)
So, bit brasic now, have to wait a month I think b4 I can do anything else car wise, then its holiday time, bugger!
Hope you sell it soon m8, just not to me I'm afraid,
thanks anyway,
chris.

ok Chris. Richard I paid £450 for it don't want to take that much loss on it. the licence alone is worth £350 so you get the ecu for free

Sonic the P1 uses the sti5 ecu it can be mapped to tek3 but it is not the same ecu as used on UK cars. UK uses 801/802. they will not work on a P1. I have a P1 and made the mistake of buying it thinking I could use it on the P1.
