What does an EU import mean to me in servicing and insurance? Taking into account Im 23 years old.
would you be wiling to return the car back to standard? or will it be easy for me to buy and return to standard and sell the parts on myself?
I would need to remove these for insurance:
AE800 ECU http://www.ecutek.com/tuning/oemcompare/
Pagid Front Discs (Standard Discs Included) ??????????
Ferodo DS2500 Pads (Just Fitted) ??????????
The other thing i have a concern about is selling the car on after Im done with it and the car holding its value being a import.

Ray,
The fact that the car is an EU import makes no difference. It is fully registered with IM, has a Certificate Of Conformity and has been serviced at Subaru dealers from new. The Log book is exactly as per a uk car. The cars were all made by Subaru in Japan - its just that the boat dropped some off at Holland! Insurance is exactly the same because it is full UK Spec - I pay £520 Fully Comprehensive Protected
The AE800 ECU is still a standard ECU, its just its better than the later ECUs. Putting the original ECU back in is a 10 minute job. The standard discs / pads on a MY00 are poor and most people upgrade - most insurers are ok with uprated brakes but it would be simple to put back to standard if you wanted.
Re sale on an EU is very similar to a UK once the cars are out of warranty. The EU cars used to come with a one year warranty whereas the UK cars came with a three year warranty.
Let me know if you want any more info,
Cheers,
Ian.
