VF35 turbo

VF35 turbo
Probably the best direct swap for a TD04 combining early spoolup and up 1.4 bar ish at the red line - made my MY98 absolutely fly all the way to the red (no TD04 tailoff at the top) with just a dawes and then even better with an AVCr to control it.
Was on an STI8 for 5000 miles from new, then I've had it for probably less than 5000 miles - so virtually as new - it's still very 'clean'.
I only ran it at 1.25 bar max or the clutch would slip which was the last straw - so it's never been stressed.
Very easy straight swap - no other bits necessary (maybe £10 gaskets) you can do it in an hour or two and as said runs very well with std ecu and just a dawes.
Looking for £400 or highest bid

A remap would be ideal but not essential - u would need a knocklink, boost guage & some method of boost control tho - a dawes is very good.
It is roller bearing - 'lag' is I think marginally better than a TD04, but being bigger the boost threshold is slightly higher (still full boost by 3000rpm) without a clever remap to bring it in asap.
IMHO with supporting mods - full decat, air filter, fuel pump etc. it should give up to about 340 bhp at the top end of it's capabilites - maybe 1.4 bar, before you need to start changing intercooler, fuelling etc.
I wouldn't run that level of boost though without a remap.
However even at 1.2 bar or less it is noticeably stronger than a TD04 and there is no tail off in boost after 5000rpm like the TD04 - so it's much quicker.

Editted to say - yes it should be a very easy straight swap - you just unbolt old one & bolt up new one, the only extras you need are a couple of gaskets from a dealer for about a tenner - a couple of hours tops.

the lag is no worse -maybe better.
The spool point is obviously higher tho, it's a bigger turbo.
where the TD04 spools at about 2500 the vf35 spools at 3000.
This was on the original ecu unmapped - a mapped ecu would be better.
I actually didn't mind this at all as cruising around theres a bigger window where the turbo doesn't spool up & mpg is better - was getting up to 280 miles to the tank - never got more than about 230 before.
Also on the original 380 injectors - I'm sure people will say it's not ideal maxing them out but it worked fine - I never got a flash on the Knocklink except after a few laps of Oulton.
