Default help!!! suspect turbo problem

has anyone come up against my suspect turbo problem. I have MY95 wrx which I've only had a week. It is my second wrx. I changed the oils as per u.k spec manual. I had a slight oil leak on the drivers side cover which was dropping onto the manifold. Some smoke!! i took the shields off and exhausts, rectified the leak and carefully replaced. I did,nt take the lamba off just disconnected and put back. Took the car out yesterday and after the warm up gave it the boost. The boost was sluggish and there was a wicked screeching noise when the boost was on, so I brought it back home. Left it for an hour or so and test drove it again, but this time when It reached 3500 rpm and the boost kicked in, the car just died as if I had ran into something. Has anybody any idea what could be causing this. This was the first time I had drove the car hard since I've had it because of the oil leak. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thumbs up

That sounds like my MY97WRX when the boost solenoid has clogged up. I'd try cleaning it out with brake cleaner/degreasant first.
