Don't panic too much..........

I've seen 93WRX going for about 9-10k in some places and going well, the cars didn't look that good either.

To import one yourself would be about 7.5k for a 93 WRX in standard form. And then you have to wait for 3 months.

If you price your car at a realistic price and it's in good condition someone will buy it.

Just make sure you word your advert better, don't say 'average condition' that makes it sound as though it's not as good as it could be, say something like 'excellent condition for year' people normally skim over adverts and will only remember the first bit i.e. 'excellent condition'

Just because one chap only got 6.1k doesn't mean the market is that bad, just depends how quickly you need to sell it!

Mattski,

are you NUTTS????? 6-7 grand for a knackered F plate????? No chance mate. Ive seen loads of cossies go for peanuts. I know of a J plate mint 4x4 with all the gubbins (to give a reliable genuine 400bhp) thas going for £5500!!!!!! Another 4x4 (k plate) with new engine, group A turbo, 330bhp etc etc is up for £6k. Ive just turned down a sweet F plate rwd with rebuilt engine, sweet body work etc that was up for £2800........the prices are NOT going back up

Having said that my mates got £8k sat in his account and hes looking for a GOOD wrx/sti. Email me if you have one for sale,

cheers, bren

Matt N: Point taken but weve all seen these cars good money, they arent just now, hence my drop. Im not going to let this detract from the original post but what Im saying is, the Market (and particularly Imprezas it seems) has slumped. If I hadnt got to sell mine I WOULDNT believe me, Im still reeling.

Needs must however butits not a good time to sell. Upgrading is a different story, some real bargains around.

Finally dont be suprised I only got 6.1k, I was offered "5-51/2" by a number of dealers, all of which had MUCH lower spec cars on their forecourt at 9.5k >.........it breaks youre heart.....

Nuff gloom and doom...best of luck Nutter.

Cool

RichieC,

I know the market is slow and therefor dealers are trying to make as much money on cars as they are not selling as many. The thing that bugs me is you couldn't get a good 93WRX in Japan at todays rates for less than about 6.8k fully converted etc. And I bet yours had some security on it etc. etc. So dealers are now paying less in the UK than in Japan plus getting better equipped vehicles, and not having to wait 6-8 weeks for them to arrive! it seems crazy to me that they can offer less than the cost of purchase in Japan. And to double there money on re-sale, pi55e5 me off. I mean 4k for Richbay's WRX is just silly money, everyone knows it will be on the forecourt for 7995. And he was buying a car off the same dealer, I remember the old days when if you px a car they gave you more than book value as the car you were buying was more than book value, now people pay too much and get too little.

Never mind manufactures ripping people off the 2nd hand dealers are getting even worse.

Jez i don't half go on sometimes!!!!!!!

I agree 100%. I dont mind dealers making a "fair" bit on a resale, afterall thats their job, but they seem to be taking the pi55 just noe.

hiya,

bren, the market is a little messed up at the moment, I was offered between 8 and 9k on trade-ins with my 94 WRX against various stuff. A very good friend of mine was an agent for autotrader and he saw the price of cossies drop through the floor and then start to pick up again, I can't see it being any different with Impreza's.

Oddly enough a few people I have spoken with expect the price of WRXs to remain the strongest of all, apart from P1, 22B etc. Their reasoning was that the WRX will become 'affordable' and are less fussy on petrol etc.

ta,
Matt
