Each year 50 non UK spec cars of each model type are allowed into the country officially under the SVA system. All other cars are personally imported as pre-owned abroad (the grey market). Evidence has to be provided that the car was purchased abroad before importation into the UK. The bottom line is that the owners document shows that the UK keeper is not the first owner. The 50 official cars are invariably the first to be imported at the beginning of each year. Mine is one of those and therfore shows me as the first owner/keeper. So I suppose you could say this car is not a grey import.......
The warranty was supplied with the car from new by Lockyear garage and is underwritten by an inderpendent insurer.

Er, actually...no
The grey in "grey import" applies to the fact tha the car imported is of a type not sold officially in the UK, irrespective of how it got here.
Cars such as the Mazda MX-5 which are imported from Japan are termed "parallel imports" as they ARE sold in the UK.
Sorry to burst your bubble mate.
