Big Bear,

The MHI TD-05H turbo as fitted by Subaru to all Impreza Turbo cars up to 1997 does indeed have a "elephant nose", it's a "nasty" 90 degree bend just before the inducer which, IMHO, is not a good idea, so I had it removed, so now the air goes straight in It will not work on a pre-'97 car unless the intake manifold is changed or something is done with the water pipework and power steering reservoir to allow a straight pipe to go onto the turbo. On anything '97 or later it will just "drop in"... if it's replacing a TD-04L then the fittings are the same, if it's replacing a VF (unusual choice, but hey) then it will need new fittings as the tread on the banjoes are different on the MHI to the IHI turbos.

Cheers,

Pat.

Also have you got a spare standard exhaust header lying around from one of your previous engines?
Cheers Dave

Big Bear,

I have mailed you about price...

I have a set of exhaust headers, yes, I will see if I can find them! They should be lying around Scoobysport somewhere I gas flowed them and removed all the heat shields. They would need to be wrapped, the up-pipe and the cross-pipe are already, but the collectors would need some more wrap. One roll of Le Mans wrap per collector would be sufficient, a roll costs about a tenner.

WillieF,

The downpipe will fit all Imprezas from about '93 through '00, but not the '01 as that has a different arrangement.

As for price, I dunno what they go for second hand, does UKP 100 sound fair?

Cheers,

Pat.

Hi All!

As part of my recent adventures with turbos I now have at least a spare Scoobysport downpipe (won't fit new turbo )

I may also be selling the 2.5" centre section and back box, as I may need to run a 3" system to cope with the new turbo / wastegate.

There is also a Mitsubishi TO-05H turbo which has been converted to a front entry, so it is a drop-in replacement for the TD-04L found on UK cars from '97 onwards (or any VF series for that matter). This will flow roughly the same as a VF22, it somewhat tougher, but does take a little bit longer to spool up. It made 270BHP on a UK engine running 1 bar on Star Performance's rollers (so its charge density is somewhat higher than the TD-04L ). If there is anyone seriously interested, I'll get it stripped and rebuild so it's "as good as new".

Open to offers

Cheers,

Pat.

Hi all!

Yet to check mail, will reply individually, rest of system, err... lemme think

OK, how about UKP 200 for the centre and the back box? It doesn't really make sense to split them... I will if need be, but it sorta makes sense to have them together.. shipping cost on just a centre would make it almost not worth while!

Cheers,

Pat.

Quick update...

Turbo has now gone, but I can make more of them... cost would be slightly higher for "made to order" units, but still sensible money. Another 2 could be available within a week or two if there is interest in them

Exhaust system still available, awaiting confirmation from a few people... first to make a firm offer gets it UKP 300 for the full system (don't really wanna split), UKP 125 for DP and centre or UKP 200 for centre and back box. UKP 175 for back box on its own. Really reluctant to sell mid on its own, because it's almost not worth the postage at UKP 25!

Also seem to be starting a new line of business in gas flowed exhaust manifold collectors They are the Subaru original ones with the ports matched. Effects are better volumetric efficiency, lower engine noise, smoother running. Will do on an exchange basis.

Cheers,

Pat.

Hi all!

The exhaust system and turbo have now been sold. I can produce some more TD-05 turbos if anyone else is interested, and the gas flowed headers are still available on an exchange basis...

Cheers,

Pat.
