I have a PPP ECU in my car, but I'm looking for something more!! Damn that Danny Fisher for laying down a challenge!!!

I only plan on selling the PPP ECU, and not the intercooler pipework (and I've never had the exhaust)

Is anyone interested? I have a figure in mind, but I'll let you guess!!

Drop me a mail on: andrewtang1@aol.com

Cheers
Andy

Andy,

Didn't it make a major difference over the standard setup then ?

What other work would need to over and above getting the ECU upgraded ?

Cheers,
Darren

Hi Darren,

It made a huge difference over the standard ECU, it felt torquer and you can feel the extra pull when driving.

I'm tempted to go down the bigger turbo route, so a different ECU will be required.

The ECU is a straight swap, there is no need to reprogram it, as there isn't an immobolising circuit on the PPP ECU. It's just drop in and go.

The PPP would normally come with a straight through centre section exhaust and the backbox, as well as the intercooler pipework. I guess those modifications would be needed as well.

Hope this helps

Give us a clue on the ECU so I don't offend. Whilst you are at a clue for the quickshift as well !!

Just a suggestion I wouldn't pay anymore. If a complete s/h kit retains 1/2 of its value and your kit isn't complete I think £350 is not undervaluing the ECU.

But then your maths is wrong!

£2000 for the kit new.

£1000 for the kit second hand assuming 50% less.

£200-250 for second hand ppp exhaust, leaves £750-800 for ECU and intercooler pipework!

Samco hoses are available for around £75.

I don't think £700 for the ECU is off the mark.

I would start with the cost of the alternatives first, like a trip to powerstation, and a scoobysport exhaust, so more like £1400.

thats the problem when your trying to sell things that were overpriced at the start

still dont think you will see much more than £400 myself

Sorry Andy, have to agree with Jason and Robski. A few others have sold the ECU and it's gone for 350-400 quid. Also, the Prodrive back boxes have been going for about 80-100 quid nearly new. You need to reprogramme the keys too (I'm sitting here at ScoobySport while they do mine). The system expects a better mid section and back box, but put a de-cat downpipe on it too and you might begin to see problems (maybe).

Will let you all know what a difference the PPP makes when I get back tonight...

Richard

I guess you also have to quanify how much it will be worth with it on your car!

For example will a Link/Unichip car be worth more than a standard car to a dealer when it comes to sell it and the answer is no.

Would a PPP car be worth more to a dealer than a standard car, in which case, yes.

Richard, I had mine put in by Steve Lawson there, and he told me no re-programming was needed for the keys! So check!!! Also Mervyn at Power Engineering said the same thing.

Also I've had no issues with overboosting, but then I have a HKS EVC to keep tabs on that as well!

As for going for other aftermarket products, I guess people are willing to look at prices, without comparing like for like!

Also I have seen some Link & UniChip cars, with "issues". Choice is yours. More power with Links/Unichips/etc, but at which point does more power mean less reliability?? I'm not saying that these products are bad, just that not many people hear about the downside, only the upside!

Just my feelings on the topic, but my car has been dyno'd at 280bhp from a UK car, but to get any more, I need to re-think my tuning.

At the end of the day the ECU is worth what you can get for it.

Bear in mind a Prodrive installed PP package has a warranty and certificate saying it has been installed correctly. The added value of the PPP is that it has been installed by Prodrive AND is an authorised [package].

The ECU by itself won't in my view enhance the value of the car so I think £350 is quite fair.

Hiya Andy,I'd sell that PPP Ecu fast mate as your car was really slow(joke!!)Honestly though I'm not quite sure why you want to change as the car felt very quick when I went for a ride in it,but then chats with Danny Fisher always seem to end up making me spend more money as well.Anyway, goodluck mate. Question

Andy as I am thinking of getting a PPP I was wondering what others mods you have done to get 280BHP?

Andy, I too have been looking for a PPP ECU and was thinking along the lines of £350-£400. For much more I would think about going the whole hog and get a Motec or something similar.

If you take away the cost of the Prodrive labour, warranty, BB, mid-section, hoses, intercooler y-piece - I think the PPP ECU new (if you could buy it on it's own) would cost approx £700-£800, therefore, 2nd hand, with no certificate, no Prodrive installation and no warranty, £350 seems fair. How much did you pay for it?

Cheers,

Matt

I'm glad you all agree it's the right price, but I don't see any for sale at that price!

I'm not selling it for that much money. Unless I get the price I want for it, I'll keep it and enjoy it!

Strange how people always seem to want something for nothing! Oh well!

I have a ScoobySport Downpipe, ScoobySport Backbox, Magnex centre with resonator, Unifilter RamPod air inductor, MRT cold air feed pipe, Forge recirculating dump valve, Uprated intercooler pipes, Prodrive ECU and HKS EVC boost controller (High boost 18psi/1.18bar)

Any queries, drop me a mail
Andy

Wink

£350 sounds not bad considering you can get the whole kit new for not much more than half of yer £2K. That's ECU, piping, centre and a backbox.
