Talking

Just been given a working Sun Sparc Station 10 from a site as they knew nothing about it !

It has a 20" monitor an external CD Rom speakers and microphone, mouse and keyb. It looks well featured with 2 isdn ports etc.

I have been told it does have a value, can someone help me. Is anyone interested in it ???

Thanks
Jase

I have just powered it up :

SparcStation 10 (1x390z50)
96mb Ram
Sun OS 5.7
Unix System V release 4.01

Cant get pass the password stage !!!
Looking at the versions and dates of the s/w I would say its been used recently...

This afternoon I called a reseller who not knowing the spec offered £450... I dont know the spec either not knowing Unix, the monitor is the one thats sold 2nd hand for £250, looking at some prices on the web these things sell for over a grand !!! Guess I got lucky this week. I am looking for £500. Wow the pwr of the net.. Had it been up to the client this gear would have ended up in the skip....

I am based in Tonbridge Kent, close to the M25 if you want a look or can tell me more about it..

Thanks
Jase

If you don't get any offers from here, Suns tend to go well on Ebay in the Computers/UNIX section (http://www.ebay.co.uk).

Would love to take it off your hands, but have other fish to fry for the next couple of months.

Best of luck,

Simon.

From the description it sounds like a SparcStation 10 Model 41 (40MHz Sparc CPU) launced in 1992 EOL in 1994, unless it's been upgraded it will have a 1.05Gb disk.

The 20inch monitor if Sun Badged and the same age as the workstation, it is not multisync and will only work with a Sun Workstation.

Good luck with trying to get 500stlg there's a Sparc5 110 on sale on ebay.co.uk at the moment for 100stlg which is a better more modern workstation.

P.S I hope you don't get prompted for a password at the OK prompt, as this means the EPROM is password protected and the only solution is to replace the EPROM chip.
