Let me guess, you were driving along the road and had to stop at some traffic lights. A white van pulled alongside and a guy lent across and asked "Do you want to buy some speakers?"
Did he then go through a whole load of crap about how they were surplus stock and he had to take them back to the warehouse and that they were worth £1000 but he could let you have them cheap?
A few years ago one of my friends bought some of these for £300 (Out of his grant!) and was initially very happy with them. I knew absolutely nothing about stereos at the time and when I first saw them I thought they looked pretty impresive. My HiFi buff friend had one look at them and told him pretty much what Gastro told you. Friend who had bought them suddenly reaslised he had been had.....
Go on be honest, how much did you pay for them??
Out of all of my friends pretty much all of them have been stopped in the street and asked if they wanted to buy some at some time or other.

Hi JD,
Was given them by a friend last year as a birthday present. When I challenged him later in the year, you are absolutely correct....it was white van man. He was a bit embarrassed when he told me he paid £250
