5Door WRX MY98
#1
I'm selling it because I've got an EVO7 with my name on it currently half way between here and Japan!
You're right I'm going to miss it, but I'm in a position to get a new car and the new scooby just doesn’t do anything for me.
A friend of mine has an EVO6 and despite the press reports there really is nothing between it and my WRX in straight line performance or sideways fun, but while the Mitsi' has moved on the scooby seems to have gone backwards.
Will I be branded a traitor and banished from this bulletin board? Is there an EVO site out there?

Absolutely standard and immaculate 5door WRX (silver)! 39,000miles; No mods (even stuck to bridgestones(S02)), no track days, dealer serviced every 6000miles with fully synthetic oil. Imported new by myself, arrived with 4km on the clock, ran it in properly myself (I’m Mr sensible family man!) Registered September 1998.
Standard Jap sec ie
280HP (I know most 5doors are 250hp, but not the late 1998 ones)
16" wheels
Climate control (not just air con)
Foldie mirrors (you’ll wonder how you lived without them, honest)
Etc etc…..
£11,950 ono

Why are you selling it?
I would love one of these, if only I could swap my standard '98 5dr Turbo for one
I love the UK but the WRX just has that little 'something', especially in the 5 door.
You'll miss it!
Laurence
Tell you what, how about a swap+some cash then you could sell mine

That's better, my proper username.
Two questions...
What year plate is it on?
I presume it has a CAT 1 Alarm / Immob, but does it have a Tracker type thingy?
Cheers,
ChrisB.

Just thought I'd dig these out for you.
Model codes from September 97 ~August 98:
GF8E58D is WRX Wagon (250)
GF8E5ED is WRX STI Wagon (280)
Model codes from September 98 onwards:
GF8F58D is WRX Wagon (250)
GF8F5ED is WRX STI Wagon (280)
Same output... are you sure it's not an STI?

Hi
It has got a Thatcham approved immobiliser, but that it all. The car is always garaged so that was good enough for the insurance so it was good enough for me!
It was first registered in September 1998, but they gave me an ‘R’ don’t really know why.

Thanks for the information.
So when do you need to sell it by?

It’s not an sti, but what I was told, by the garage that services it, is that they briefly fitted the WRX engine from the 4 door into the 5 door, and apparently you can get this from the engine number.

According to the SIDC faq the MY98/99 WRX 5 Door manuals had 280bhp (GF8E58D/GF8F58D) and all others had 240bhp including the 2000MY car.
Looks like reasonable price for a fast car.
Good luck selling!

I tried to reply direct to your email, but to bounced.....
Thanks for your interest. At 80mph the revs are about 3750 rpm.
This does give it excellent 80-100mph acceleration, which makes for relaxing
lane change/overtakes.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Photopoint now charge for hosting photos, do a search in general on posting, one of the bbs users is kindly hosting pictures for the members gallery. When I get home later I'll post the link for you.
Alternatively, just swap your car for my 5 door (S plate) MY98 and sell that instead
