so what if it is an import! why do you guys have such hang ups with people that have used their heads and saved themselves a small fortune.
The car is worth around 16000-16500 and at that price its cheap!

chiark,
OK, but my company asked straight out is it an import.
Guess it depends on the company.
Also, if it helps, I'm going to start to build a database of second hand scoob prices based on actual sales. Should be able to offer some advice on pricing if people want it. Won't be ready for a while yet need more data. Will put a post up when ready.

I don't have a downer on imports -- I have a Jan 2000 EU import.
I was just pointing out that as it had a different alarm, it could well be an import.

who said it was a hang up.
I think you'll find that you have to declare it to the insurance company if it's an import.
Also, you should always find as much out about the car as possible before buying, personally I'd like to know if it had no warranty left or another 2 years.

Insurance companies ask if it's a full UK specification right hand drive car... I have a parallel import and no-one has been bothered in the slightest...
But the warranty point is a very good 'un!

Here we go again ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif)
Id sell my euro import for around that price (MY00) sonic blue, aircon and ppp for around 16.5k (15k)miles. it is a little over priced thou, if you offered it at 15500 you would probably get a better offer, when in the first 3 years a euro car wont be worth as much as the equivelant uk but after 3 years it should be better![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif)
As for declaring it as an import.... my insurance company wernt bothered, just what the value of the car was new (22k) (still pay the premium on your insurance) because its a euro import they just classed it as a uk car (full uk spec). but if the warranty is an issue then just buy one, ok its not as good as a uk one but it will cover you for most things![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

Your right Carl
I agree there's to many people trying to sell Imports at the same price as a UK car,
When I looked at buying an import from Holland it worked out at just under £15000+expenses.
So Why any one would want to pay more for a second hand car is beyond me.
Before you all start moaning I've got an import and I'm very happy with it,but I don't think it's worth more than it is.
I was with Elephant insurance and there wanted a extra thousand pound to insure a uk spec import for some reason.
Went to What Car insurance and there didn't have a problem with an import and charge me the same as a uk car,
Good look selling your car and sorry you thread has been Hi-jacked,I know it's really annoying.
Imports rule

Leave the guy alone! Who cares what he paid for it. If he won it in a competition would you expect him to give it away free. The car is identical to a UK car except for the warranty and thats only worth a few hundred quid. Importing a car is a bit more hassle than buying from a dealer and so anyone that bothers to do it deserves to pocket the money they save for their hard work, not to give it away to the cars future owner.
(also sorry for the thread hijack.)

Apologies for continuing the hijack.
My point was that Motor point - a large UK dealer has a car which they descibe as a Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 with 7k miles on X plate on there website for £14995. A quick browse of Autotrader will bring up other such cars priced at £15k or so, my point is this - import or not and regardless of where the car was sourced £16.5k is not good value (as stated by the seller) otherwise it would not be dearer than cars at dealers.
Right I'm off my high horse now, advertise the car for a good price and it will sell...

Appreciate all your comments (good point about the competition). It was a bit of hassle importing, but more of a gamble really, trusting money to a dealer in a diff country 3 months in advance!
Would do it again. but looking to 'down size' due to buying a business.
If the mkt value of the car is £15k then that's what I'll get.
But fortunately there are people in this world who don't know as much as you guys, and a saving on the new price (of the new car, ugh, sorry different thread)of around £6k on a car with such a great pedigree Thanks to Mr McRae et al!)is good value.
But as the saying goes 'money talks and bullsh*t walks', so I'll let you know.
Thanks again guys
See my latest thread on Wanted -A Subaru for about £8k!
