Thumbs up

edf,

Sorry mate but, when I ordered my car in January I wanted cruise control. Was listed in the extras catalogue, but was told it was a mis-print by the dealers.

Have you got cruise control ?

When I ordered mine (mid-1999) I was told they used to do cruise control on the turbos, but stopped doing so. So it is quite possible that this car has factory or dealer-fit cruise control.

BTW if you have MY00 60k service is even more expensive, as it's a 30k + cambelt

...if you're thinking of buying one with 50K-something miles on the clock, don't forget that the full 60K service replaces just about everything perishable and will cost you a shed-load....

I can confirm that this car does have a Subaru cruise control and it works brilliantly. I think they're rare, and have been discontinued because

(1) it's difficult to set up reliably on a highly tuned turbo car, so maybe only dealers who really know what they are doing will offer it?

(2) there is limited demand as the average scooby driver's cruise control is the floor metal :-). Having been there, seen that and got the endorsements, buying a car with a cruise control has helped me avoid a few motorway red mist situations which would otherwise have ended in plod!

As I am the second owner of the car I cannot say for sure whether the device was factory fitted or dealer fitted. I have always assumed the latter. What I can say is that it is on the original sale docs for the car so was definitely available as an option from Lancaster Sevenoaks in Mar 98.

What is funny is that an amazing number of people think that you can only have cruise control on an automatic....now that really would be a rare scooby!

Cool

All,

Thanks for replying. I wanted CC for the same reason. Wanted to get on the motorway and sit at 80 mph. Which I didn't think would be easy in the Scooby.

I have to say though, that it really is a fast car that you can drive slowly. Never driving a performance car that could go slow if needed.

Cruise Control was fitted at the dealer, as all options are.
