Howie, apologies this is not about your car,BUT I would be v.interested in your opinion of the Toyos v SO2s as I've SO2's at the moment but I'm thinking of replacing them with Toyo's.Cheers, John

John,
No apology required m8, a little off topic, but hey thats what the scoobynet is for - sharing info and experiences. (at least i'll be back at the top for a wee while ;D )

I had the S02's on for about 20months (cost about 125 a piece (Thanks northampton tyres )
Huge amount of grip in the dry and very stable when having to make rapid manuoevres, such as laim brains pulling out into your lane right in front of you just as your making full boost - eek)
Superior traction in the wet compared to the previously shod S01's. But hey you know all about the S02's, you want to know how they compare with the Proxys.

When I was looking for a new set of tyres to replace the S01's it was Moray Mackenzie who advised me to try the Proxys, but i had already ordered the S02's, even though the proxys were a good bit cheaper £80each, as apposed to £125 for the S02s.

Recently replaced the Yokohama A510's on my Girlfriends GTi cabrio with proxys and once bedded in I was well impressed with their superior traction wet and dry than the yokies

As Scooby was coming up for sale and new tyres were in order, rather than spending the 500 notes on a set of S02s the head ruled my heart so I spent £300 on the Proxys.

Have only had them on for a month, but once bedded in ( a days drive down from Manchester office to Hemel Hempstead office and back) in the dry they certainly behave as well as the S02s, giving huge grip when pushing hard into corners and no twitchiness from the back end when powering out.

The only slight criticism of the proxys is the same scenario as above but in the wet, I have found the back end gets a little twitchy when powering out of corners, where as the S02s remained stable.

So m8, you pays yer money and you take your choice. I got about 20months out of the S02s which equates to about 30K miles which is pretty good, I have no info on the longevity of the proxys, but I am sure if you put a post on the BBS re: Proxys vs S02s I am sure you would receive a healthy set of replies.

Cheers
H

Unhappy

A sad day for me, Scooby has now been sold, thanks Jason, enjoy m8, an absolute snip @ 10,400.

In the meantime I'll be taking all you Scoobies on in my all new Golf 1.9 TDi with a whopping .... wait for it 90BHP .. wow. At least it's a free car thanks to a co. car allowance.

I'll be back though, sometime in the future.
Everyone have fun and take care out there! There are some fast TDi's knocking about

Cheers
H
