Default swop Prodrive brakes for standard + cash

I have a set of the P1 upgrade front brakes made by Alcon. These have 330 mm discs and the calipers are massive. However overall I think they weight slightly less than the standard 4 pots as the calipers are alloy.

I used to get brake fade with the standard 4 pots but these sorted that well out. I have never encountered fade or anything other than a firm middle pedal.

They look great too. I have a pic available of them through a wheel if you don't know what they are.

Anyway, I am looking to go back to standard before selling the car so I need a set of 4 pots in exchange plus some cash. Depending on the life left in your brakes I would be looking for between £350 - £550 plus brakes.

These were a £2k upgrade from Subaru a couple of years ago so are a bargain now.

They will also come with a spare set of discs that I bought of Ebay for £100.

Cheers

Rich

Just a note to ad that I would like to get the swop done at a local trusted garage to me and it should take less than 2 hours to get it all done.

Hi Craig,

They are 4 pots but obviously much larger than standard.

The best I can do is £350 if yours are in good nick. We would need to sort the mechanic out with a couple of hours labour too but I know him pretty well so that should not be so bad. I would go halves on the labour. I am seeing him tomorrow with one of my other cars so will ask him for a quote. I would expect something between £50 & £75.

Cheers

Rich

Womandriver, the pic is craigs brakes and they are standard!

Craig, the spare disks are used, they were off a P1 with the same brakes as mine and they are pretty corroded but should be fine for 10k miles or so. They cost me £100 from ebay. The discs are the best part of £500 from Subaru new and rarely come up 2nd hand. I could stick these on ebay again but I reckon they would be useful as new discs are so expensive.

Cheers

Rich

The discs on the car are at least half worn. They seem to be lasting very well so I would expect something like 15k left in them. The pads are less than half worn the last time I looked. They will prob last as long as the discs. They are an endurance compound so last particularly well but don't need much warming up.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for that. I wasn't planning on including braided hoses as I bought the goodridge kit seperately but they are only a few quid so will include them. It will be as easy to swap the lot over.

Do you want to drop me an e-mail to rich@outofthecity.co.uk and we can take it from there. That is my works e-mail and I am at work full time again as of tomorrow.

I will send you my tel. nos. etc off line and make arrangements to meet up. I have just spoken to the mechanic and am having a pint with him later so will ask him to work a price out for me.

Cheers

Rich
