I have a TD05 for sale, that has covered approx. 50,000 miles.
It is in good condition - It has no shaft play and does not smoke.
The compressor cover has been converted to Front Entry to fit 1997 onwards cars.
The uppipe side of the exhaust housing has been ported to give earlier and improved spoolup. (see pics.
)
The wastegate has also beeon ported to reduce the possibility of "boost creep" and give a better boost control.
Pictures here...

Basically, I've left a 1.5mm overlap for the wastegate button to sit on, but more work has been done to where the gasses 'turn' from the uppipe section of the exhaust housing, to exit through the wastegate. You can open it up and smooth off the curve by quite a lot, removing a fair bit of metal.

My girlfriends MY00 currently has a "standard" TD05 fitted (rebuilt by Turbo Dynamics) along with other mods

I intent to give her turbo the same treatment, getting a 'before' and 'after' dyno plot (mainly for my interest

By splitting the exhaust housing off of the core
![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
If you look carefully, there is a locating peg on the core which engages with a depression in the exhaust housing.
Normally these are very corroded on an old, used unit![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Hope this helps

A TD05 makes a big difference to a car which was originally fitted with a TD04.
Where the TD04 runs out of steam at around 5500rpm, the TD05 just keeps on pulling to 7000, and beyond![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
You are sacraficing a few hundred rpm on spoolup with the TD05, but it won't take long to adjust your driving style to this.
Obviously it would be best to fit the TD05 with a decat, remap etc - ensuring that you get the most out of it, and your engine contnues to run safely![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
