Default magic modchip for ps2

as above bought for my ps2, unfortunatly its for version 9 and below mines a version 10

heres the spec:

Works with Jap/NTSC/Pal
Boot from browser
Direct Boot all PS2 and PS1 games (D9, DVD-R, and AR2)
Auto detect region and version
Plays PS2 original imports
Plays Backups on HK Silvers
Plays Backups of originals (cdr/dvdr)
Plays EA Backups (Without Patch)
Plays Original Imports EA Sports
Play v7 protected games on v7 machines
Gameshark/Action Replay compatible
The ability to disable the modchip.
Plays PSX imports/backups
The Magic V chip requires soldering 23 wires.

£30 ono inc delivery, and instructions for fitting.

a few people have asked how to find out the version number.

so heres a simple way of finding out.

remember this chip needs a version 9 or lower to work.

PS2 Identification Guide



10 Screws at base of PS2 Version 1, 2 and 3
USA SCPH 30001 Version 1 = Serial Number begins with U1 Date Code 0D
USA SCPH 30001 Version 2 = Serial Number begins with U0 Date Code 0D
USA SCPH 30001 Version 3 = Serial Number begins with U1 Date Code 1A
USA SCPH 30001 Version 3 = Serial Number begins with U2 Date Code 0D


8 Screws at base of PS2 Version 4,5 and Electrical warning stamped on the bottom
USA SCPH 30001 Version 4 = Serial Number begins with U0
USA SCPH 30001 Version 4 = Serial Number begins with U1
USA SCPH 30001 Version 4 = Serial Number begins with U2
USA SCPH 30001 Version 4 = Serial Number begins with U3
USA SCPH 30001 Version 4 = Serial Number begins with U4
USA SCPH 30001 Version 4 = Serial Number begins with U5
USA SCPH 35001 Version 4 = GT3 Edition


There are 3 Motherboards for the SCPH 30001R, Version 4, 5 and 6 (5 and 6 are the same)
USA SCPH 30001R Version 5 or 6 Motherboard see below to ID
USA SCPH 39001 Version 7



If your model # is SCPH-50000, 50001, 50002, 50003 or 50004 AND if you can find DATE CODE 3D as shown below, you have a V10 PS2 main board


V11 - Only released in Europe. The model # is SCPH-50004 with a GH-027 or GH-029 board. Same board as V10 but console comes with a new laser unit.

v12 - The new mini PS TWO SCPH-7000x:
SCPH-70012 CB (for United States)
SCPH-70011 CB (for North America)
SCPH-70002 CB (for Oceania)
SCPH-70003 CB (for UK)
SCPH-70004 CB (for Europe)
SCPH-70000 CB (for Japan)

to do it yourself you will need to be a competant solderer, for a competant solderer it will be a 10 minute job.

my local tv shop agreed to fit it to mine for £5. it wouldnt work though as mine was the newer version.
