MY97 engine - block / heads
Sat in my garage due to 2.5 engine with STI heads upgrade.
To be honest I have no idea of mileage since my 60k MY95 STI came with the engine, a previous owner had replaced the OE one with this at some stage. However in the last 3 years the engine has only seen Silkolene Pro S every 4000 miles and has never used a drop in my ownership.
By inspection of the valvetrain the heads are UK / WRX, as in non STI, since I have not split the engine I cannot tell if the block is STI or not, but I assume it isn't.
It has been at approx 280 HP for 10,000 miles and then an Andy F mapped 320ish HP for the last 3000 miles, in both cases rev limit at 7200 rpm.
The reason for removal was forced due to a slight weep in the headgasket, it pressurises the coolant a little on tickover but was driveable without coolant loss off boost, which it did for about 150 miles whilst I sourced the final bits for my already planned engine swap.
I used a few ancillaries for the swap, so the engine comes without:
cambelt
tensioner
cam wheels
water cross pipe
It does have the rocker covers though, and the water pump.
Could be ideal for someone who's done a bearing / rod / valves etc, will fit straight into MY93-98 cars.
Make me an offer
