Car is running in nicely.... I've done about 60 miles on the new engine and it's tighter than a nun's chuff!

I'd love to, but alas, I have the Golf GT TDi 150 to keep me smiling just now...

This is the wife's car and she wants something smaller, perhaps another Clio 182 or trophy

Thank you for your input.

However, you won't get a 2.2 SRi for that money though.....

Check Auto Trader and you'll struggleto find a similar one to mine for less, considering the mileage of the car and the fact that it has a brand new engine fitted.

Just had a wee check on Auto Trader to redress the balance after the negative comment above (good ol' ScoobyNet eh?)

I searched for 2.2 SRi's with less than 40k miles between £4000 and £6,000 and they are almost all in the high £4,000's and NONE have less miles than mine.

There are also half a dozen SRi's the exact same as mine for over £5000, except they ALL have more miles and no brand new engines!

Bear in mine the new engine bill would be between £2000 and £3000.

Like I said.... offers listened to.

In a roundabout way, yeah.... Apparently the fault is caused by a dodgy tensioner and oil feed to the chain, which in turn made the chain dry and prone to snapping, so yeah the chain did fail, but that was indirectly due to the weak tensioner and crap oil feed.

Vauxhall were supposed to have recalled the affected cars and fit upgraded tensioners etc however would appear to have neglected to do so on most examples, however, they honoured the engine warranty regardless of the age of the car and fitted a brand new upgraded engine worth circa £2-£3k so I'm not complaining
