A couple of bike noob questions -
1. It has 14 gears does that mean they are high geared? I have a mountain bike at the minute and when going at speed the gears don't seem stiff enough(if you get what I mean). By high speed I mean when theres a steep bank
2. I'm 6 foot 4 will this be alright?
3. Those tyres look bloody thin is it noticeable when on the bike?
I am quite interested and I aren't terribly far away(Stoke).

I'll answer your 2nd question first Trem, this will be too small for you mate, sorry. I'm 6 2 and it's bordering on small for me, you'd look like a clown on it (no offence)
But to answer your other questions in your quest for a road bike:
1/ the gears are much harder to push than a mountainbike, imagine putting your mb in say middle front 5th rear, and thats roughly gear 1 (easy) on a road bike, going all the way to top gear on the road bike which would be much harder to push up hill than a mountainbikes.
3/ Yes if you're running suspension, then its very noticable, but not as bad as you may think, and you soon get used to it, and choose nice roads
4/ there was no 4!

Interested in this : could you measure the frame pls : centre to centre for the seat and top tubes - I knpw you state it's a 53cm but I'd appreciate the actual frame dimensions to compare against my own frame(s).
I wonder a little whether a skinny set of mudguards might squeeze in but that's probably something I could try myself.
Also what is the frame : CAAD 3/4/5 ?
Thanks : finally, if I buy then, as I live nr Edinburgh I 'd probably need it posted as I can't forsee me being in your area in the immediate future : hope that might be ok.

I'll get in measured when I get up later today andy. Be interesting to see what the actual dimensions are. Not sure if you'd get mud guards in, I thought about it once, but hate that clatter they make on a stiff road bike.
CAAD 4 I think, a 2001 bike from memory. Posting will be no probs, but you'd have to pay for it, and I've no idea how much. I work for royal mail, so could maybe arrange to get it sent to Edinburgh Mail Centre direct.
