Sonic blue Version 5 STI Type R Limited for sale
I bought this car from RAF1 on this board in Feb 2005 & basically have overhauled & maintained it with no expense spared.
Usual STI Type R features ie:
2 door shell
276 bhp blueprinted engine
Waterspray Intercooler with Manual & Auto modes
Group N gearbox with DCCD
Alloy supension subframes
Aluminium bonnet & boot lid
Carbon front strut brace
Red/Blue STI seats
4pot front/2pot rear brakes (no ABS)
Roof vent (limited models only AFAIK)
Electric folding mirrors
0-60 4.4 seconds
Good points:
Car was imported new in 1999 so has full UK service history:
currently has 72000 miles on it
Engine is currently being rebuilt by API so will need running in.
Low mileage gearbox & New Lateral Performance organic clutch fitted last year
Powersation bumpsteer mod & geometry last year
(alignment rechecked at local garage this year still spot on)
New MAF fitted last year (green type, apparently less fragile)
Roger Clark oil pump
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Sony Cd/radio installed
Cat 1 alarm
Tracker (inactive at moment)
MOT until next April
Taxed for 5 months
Bad points:
As usual stone chips on front bumper /bonnet but getting these sorted could be negotiated:
One or two minor trolley dents
This is the fastest accelerating Scoob I have owned so far, much quicker than my old STI7 PPP & probably capable of high 12/ low 13 second quarters.
Also with the DCCD in its "normal" tarmac setting 64 per cent of the torque goes to the rear wheels so it doesn't understeer as badly as "normal" scoobs.(needs a little care in the wet/snow though)
It is not ideal on motorways but tolerable, unlike an early RA.
(4000 rpm = 80mph on speedo)
Despite low gearing 140 mph + is easily reached
(on the race track of course officer)
Always warmed up/cooled down as I am a fastidious old git
Also always run on Optimax plus occasional octane booster.
Have decided to try sprinting & this car is just too nice/rare to turn into a race car.
Looking for £9950 ono
Make me an offer!
Would consider a cheaper version 2 STI RA or poss WRX RA preferably with rebuilt engine as p/ex
Cheers John

Hi John - hows things...?
I can confirm this is an absolutely lovely example - aaagggghhhh i dont believe it i have been searching for another type-R for months and those i did go to see were always compared to this in my mind and not one was anywhere as good -
John if this came up 2 weeks ago i would have had it off you - i have just purchased a black v5 type-r but seeing this for sale is making me think about selling it and buying this back...!
The previous owner to me use to travel approx 200miles round trip just to get the car serviced at Graham Goode Racing where it spent all its life for any work done...! Chap i bought it from owned it for approx 4/5 years - i only sold it as i had an NSX at the same time and couldn't justify keeping both - however within a month of selling i realised i should have kept the impreza and got rid of the NSX.
This really is a lovely example and i can guarantee the 1st person to see it will buy it..! as i did when i saw it and john did when he saw it
Raf.
