Default 1997 Legacy GT-B Twin Turbo - p/x sale ?

Hi Guys,

I just fancy something different, I go through cars like there going out of fashion.

The car is a 1997 Legacy GT-B Twin Turbo with a manual box.
110k
Taxed and tested
Oil & genuine filter changed every 3k - Fully synthetic everytime.
Amazing condition.
Just had FULL service 800 miles ago.
STI panel filter
Stainless exhaust ( not loud )
Full Bilstein suspension
Air-Con
Climate Control
Cat1 Alarm and immobiliser ( with insurance installation cert )
Knock-Link and Lambda Link fitted.
Airbag
Fold away mirror's
Electric everything
This car is around 290BHP as standard, and leaves new STI's behind.

Its a very, very clean car, infact one of the cleanest around for sure.

Full slideshow of the car here - http://w32.photobucket.com/widgets/d...heoben/Subaru/

Would consider another Subaru, or anything to be honest, WHY ?

Feel free to make me an offer for the car.

Cheers,

R7

To be honest with you, I really dont know what the car is worth. If it was Ford Mondeo it would be easy to price.

The best thing to do is make me an offer, and the offers I get will kinda give me an indication of how much its worth.

Last thing I want to do is price it too high that people arent interested, and too low that im being a fool. Hope you understand matey.

Can you or someone else tell me or give me an idea what its worth ? as I really don't know to be honest.

280bhp as standard - mine is identical and produced 277bhp with a new Halfords panel filter....

Great cars and wicked accelaration on the second turbo - no where as quick off the line as an STi though. I've an STi V3 as well

p.s. it's very identical to ours - age, colour, mileage, interior and spec, we haven't a tow bar though.

Sorry, your wrong. With all due respect, when something is posted and you think the facts are incorrect, id appriciate it if you'd PM me rather than post wrong figures. For your information, the GT-B's are 280bhp as standard. The GT's are less. The B spec Legacy's have a more BHP, Bilstein suspension, half suede interior and so on.

The Legacy GT-B twin turbo's are Subaru's flagship model.

The car was dyno'd by the previous owner and it was 288 bhp.

Performance wise, 2 friends of mine have new STi's, the STi is slightly quicker to 60mph ( hardly anything in it ) However, from then on the Legacy is definately the quicker car.

On boost on the second turbo, its very very impressive.

What's it worth? good question...

Compared against my car I'd say this one looks slighly better - mine has a scuff on the front bumper and a ding on the back skirt.

I paid £5k for mine exactly two years ago and I travelled 600 miles to get one with a manual box and 280 bhp.

What's mine worth now? I'd like to think I could ask between £3,750 and £4,000. I've spent about £1,000 recently on tyres, rear discs, uppipe, battery and a radiator.

My car was UK from new, Park Lane supplied, £23k new.

How's that for a guide?

And as for almost keeping up with a new STi - no idea. I do know that my V3 Sti will **** all over the GTB up to 100mph. A rolling start with the 2 cars at about 90 mph will see the GTB embarass the STi though. The GTB from 90 to 140 on the 2nd turbo is quick.

What I would say is that the GTB is a very comfortable, quick car. I drive mine hard and at 112k miles it's still very quick and reliable.

Worth trying to sell this ober at www.uklegacy.com as well.

Cheers for that Kevin, very grateful for your input on the above.

I must say, that my car is not in showroom condition, its done over 100k so its not going to be perfect. It has a few stone chips and stuff etc, but only what you'd expect. However, for the age and mileage, its very very good. The paint and upholstery has the Silverseal protection package, which is quite frankly outstanding. I always always run the car on V-Power, and before that Optimax, never ever filled it with premium unleaded. Plus its mapped for high octane fuel.

The main reason on why im selling the car is I have another van, and I only bought the Legacy for my hobbies - fishing/shooting.

About the comparison thing, there's no doubt that the STi is quicker, but not massively quicker, definately not. When the Legacy is on boost on the 2cnd turbo, I personally think it pulls stronger for longer to be honest, and at motorway speed, the Legacy leaves it for dead. If the twin turbo engine didn't have the VOD ( Valley Of Death - the time it takes from switching from small to large turbo ) it would **** all over the STi in every gear. Plus the Legacy is a larger, heavier car. I personally prefer the feel of the boost on the Legacy to the STi.

At the end of the day, the Legacy is a cruiser, not a street machine like the Impreza's, But its definately a fast smooth machine. I only gave a indication of the power as a rough guide for people who were unawre of it.

lol, I also travelled all over the place to find a GT-B and with a manual box, no way did I want an auto. I looked at some right dogs, but I finally found the one I have now.

Cheers for the uklegacy site Kev, I will post it up on there also.

Top man

R7

I've posted this thread here, he's looking for a post 96 GTB..

http://legacy.manxforums.com/forums/...showtopic=5335

p.s. my STi does have 326 bhp @7,500 rpm and the classic model is lighter than the new STi hence it's a lot quicker than my GTB

Not all GT/B Legacys were rated at 276bhp. The earlier GT/B-Spec cars were rathed at 247bhp.

Well you did say and I quote:

...and that isnt the case. The car produced 276bhp as standard; and that was on 100RON Japanese 'Premium Unleaded' fuel; which you dont have. Even on decent SUL you'll be lucky to see 265bhp, Id expect less. Dynos are really only good for same-day comparisons; the at the flywheel figure is anything from a best-guess to totally spurious depending on the circumstances and the operator/equipment.

Im only going by from what the previous owner told me when he had it dyno'd The BHP means nothing to me to be honest. It was only a guide.

At the end of the day, its a Legacy, not a street machine like the Impreza. If anyone wants an out and out fast Subaru, you buy an Impreza, not a Legacy.

I only got the car for my hobbies, not for thrashing about the place. The speed or Bhp is something I couldn't care less about to be honest.

So the the new figure according to GC8 is 265bhp, so i'll leave it at that.

Thanks for the input
