Isn't the rebuild under warranty?

I'm sure the boys at the Clinic wouldn't be happy to read that their rebuild has started knocking after just 5k miles....

The engine was rebuilt before i purchased the car - i'm not sure there will be any guarantee / warrenty.... The downer is i specifically looked for a car that had already had a rebuild as i didn't to pay 9k for a car and then have the hassle of rebuilding the engine as i knew it was a common thing on the type-R's but i guess its just sods law...!

Worse thing is since buying the car myself i have only done a MAXIMUM of 400 miles and 200 of that was from when i bought it

So isn't your mechanic who diagnosed the knock and offered to supply and fit a new engine for the prospective buyer professional enough?

he is but a 2nd opinion isn't going to hurt just to make sure after all i dont want to sell the car if it aint knocking and it isnt, its more of a cams sound -

the reason being as the sound that my car makes disappears after 5 mins of the car being started - however i was told if it was knock it would be there all the time regardless if the car is cold or warm.....?

Are you sure it isn't pistonslap? That can sound like a knock from cold

Raf took the car back to scoobyclinic, and they confirmd it was piston slap from the uprated forged pistons. But i think he is keeping the car now.
