1998 R reg wagon for sale
Whats my scoob worth?
R reg 1998 Impreza turbo wagon in green with later facelift type dash in nice condition for year and mileage,175,000!! but drives very well as nearly everything that wears out has been replaced.
Car had new engine 22,000 miles ago with new genuine Subaru block and was fitted with Forged pistons at the time of rebuild (£1000), also cambelt plus Excedy clutch kit and numerous other parts completed the £6000 rebuild. (Receipts to prove)
It has also had upgraded suspension with a full KONI adjustable shockers and spring kit also has been fitted with a whiteline rear adjustable anti roll bar and upgraded links front and rear plus the addition of the whiteline anti lift kit which transforms turn in.
Front and rear strut braces have been added as well.
I have fitted a bigger VF28 turbo instead of the original TD-04. A stainless 2.5 inch de-cat bell mouth front pipe and centre de-cat connected to a straight thru stainless back box plus a Jap panel filter.
Four pot calipers and wider calipers at the rear with new vented discs and pads all round.
At the same time a Goodridge Stainless Brake line kit has been added with new dot 4 fluid.
The clutch slave cylinder has been replaced with a brand new one as have the fluids and lubricants throughout.
Exterior mods are new front indicator and repeater lamps in white and a new pink STI badge on the front grille.
Has had some paintwork to get rid of the major car park dings and scratches but still looks very tidy, wheels could do with a re-furbish or a repaint, tyres are still really good .
Speakers have been upgraded with INFINITY fronts and quality rears and tweeters in the doors. A brand new cat one TOAD alarm system with installation certificate was fitted recently and there is also a Nokia Bluetooth car kit fitted but will work with other phones.
Exterior is pretty good condition with only minor scuffs and scratches with some small panel dings if looking closely.
Interior is very good condition with only a few marks here and there and a cigarette burn on the rear seat.
I have most of the standard parts that were taken off the car and are included in the sale.
Any Ideas on value?
Offers.
Cheers.

I have recently been in the market for a wagon mate, so have looked at several cars.
I recently parted with £3700 for a 1998 wagon with leather and 80,000 miles with 2 previous owners and FSH. Long MOT and TAX, big folder of receipts, nice stereo, a few nice mods which I would have done anyway plus a 3 months warranty (that looks like it may actually be worth the paper it is written on)- you get the idea.
Despite the engine change I think you would still do well to get £2500 with all the mods.
I saw a few go through auction with a lot less miles but with no evidence of any major replacements for much less than that. Admittedly, I think they were traders buying the cars.
The big mileage private scoobs at the moment seem to take a long time to sell, the only way to ensure a quick sell in the current climate is to price it really competitively.
Can you put the car back to standard spec and sell off your upgraded parts - you may do a lot better that way.
Good luck with your sale.
