Written Off RB5 (maybe) for sale

OK, my RB5 has been written off. I can keep the salvage, but to be honest they want quite a bit for it. Just thought I'd give you lot the chance to get your hands on the bits.
If you want the whole car (preferable) then make me an offer (bearing in mind it won't cost me peanuts!).
If you want parts from the car, then again make me an offer. If I get no bids for the whole car that make it worthwhile then I'll add up all the bids I get for parts to see whether that makes sense.
Damage is mainly body panel and caved in roof, one of the A pillars is creased. The rear of the car is undamaged (eg the rear spoiler doesn't even have a scratch!). If you buy the car I need a written guarantee that it will be broken and not put back on the road or re-insured. It WILL be registered as written off anyway.
Parts that may be worth having are:
Wheels (RB5 prodrive ones) with two brand new tyres on the front, rears have about 4mm.
Rear prodrive high level spoiler with brake light
Seats: RB5 black with Blue Alcantara panels
Prodrive ECU/Backbox (the holy grail?!)
Engine: appears undamaged, but not started since battery is flat and the car's been upside down and leaked some oil.
Gearbox/Diffs, RB5 has short shift
Rear prodrive DS2000 pads with few miles on them, rear discs 30k miles
PIAA driving lights (undamaged)
Speedo/Rev counter with exclusive 'WR Sport' logo
Stock stereo and speakers
Stock Sigma M30 alarm, already de-installed and boxed
+ anything else you can think of.
Pictures of the car can be seen at http://www.rb5wr.com/
I need to make a decision in the next couple of days and you'll need to either collect the parts or pay for shipping.
Mail me on parts@rb5wr.com if you're interested in anything!

Kryten,
Really sorry to hear about you losing the car mate. Never a nice feeling![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
If you are breaking the car in the next few weeks I'm in Newbury area and out of work after Nov 30th - if you need a hand stripping the car down, I'll give you help if you like.
I've sent you a mail.
Cheers,
Steve

OK, thanks for all the bids. If you're interested, please don't mail me with a 'how much do you want for.....' question. If I cannot break even on this, I won't do it and no-one will get anything. So, if you're interested in part of the car, send me a rough offer: i'll let you know if I've got a better one already.
To be honest, its looking unlikely I'll get the salvage as the insurance company's engineer is adamant that the 'break only salvage' value is SIX GRAND.
I think that valuation is way too high, certainly from the breakers I've spoken to and they are refusing to budge.
The spoiler seems to be the most popular item (350 bid), but I think they'd notice if I removed it! No real bids for the engine/gearbox/diffs (well 100 quid
) and those are the bits I really need to shift to make it work as I have an idea of value on the rest of the car.
Seats are at 350, wheels/tyres at 350 and ECU 300! (where have all the "I'd pay a grand for a PPP ECU" people gone when I need them!!).
The bids so far total less than 2k so its way off, unless the bids increase and I get some sense from the Ins Co........

Just an idea, but for some of the bits could they not be 'substituted' before the car is taken away. I'm thinking of ecu/exhaust/spots etc. Bit obvious if it had the wrong wheels on it! I'd be willing of that was an option with the necessary cash..

at 6k I think they have made it a category D (i think) that can be repaired for road use and go on the HPI register and even keep it's original number plate.I'm fairly sure you cannot sell the shell if it's a breaker only.

Well, they are insitent its Cat B, I must give them a written guarantee it will not be re-insured or put back on the road and the price is 6 grand. Their engineer confirmed this today.
We'll see what happens when they actually try to shift it to a breaker and barely manage to get a third of that price.....
Mike - the swop out's a no-go. Just not worth the risk if I get caught!

cat B is breaker only, but I think they are trying it on.a m8 recently bought a cat D,X reg, rolled but not too bad considering for £7500 and it's now repaired and back on the road with same plate
,it is on the HPI register though.

Local breaker to me pays no more than 20-30% of vehicle write off amount on cat b cars....
methinks 6k is a pipe dream based on that.
good luck with the arguments with the insurance co![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Sorry to see your car...
If it wasnt cat d I would give you over 6g for it myself... and rebuild / reshell it..
They are having a laugh at that price... for cat d, worth no more than 2g tops.
Hope you are getting a pay out for the correct value from them..

OK, total so far is just over 2k with a 3k offer for the whole car.
The Ins Co won't budge on the salvage valuation, so it'll be going back to them.
Thanks for all the bids - sorry it didn't work out for those of you who wanted parts. I'll try and find out which breaker gets it and post the info.
