Unhappy

"suddenly there was a burst of machine gun fire and the
windscreen was peppered with holes. Smoke started billowing
from the engine, then hot engine oil sprayed all over the
cockpit. ...."damn Hun!" shouted Jim 'ginger'
Carruthers-Smythe as he fought with the controls. His
spitfire started to roll over and dive, the dials going
haywire and the altimeter spun backwards at an alarming
rate....he pulled back fiercely on the stick but nothing
happened!.....the plane was in a full dive, the engine
spluttered to a halt and none of the controls responded. "now
I'm really for it..." he thought, as he tried the canopy
release.....jammed!....."blast and damnation" he shouted, as
thoughts of his childhood sweetheart Emily and faithful dog
Scruff flashed through his mind.....ejector seat not
responding either....."oh well..." he thought "at least I got
a few of the blighters before they got me"......he tried to no avail to guide the crippled and fire-ridden plane towards the
sea... "God Save The King!" he said as the beach flew up to
meet him.............
.......the smouldering wreckage lay strewn across the sand, a large crater filling slowly with water as the tide came in to claim Ginger back to nature......all that could be found was one eye-glass from his goggles, and, miraculously unscathed, his sheepskin flying jacket, the name 'Ginger' still faintly visible on the collar.......

I just couldn't stop myself, the memories came flooding back when I saw this.....sorry! Shall restrict myself to the Muppet forum in future.

Nice jackets though....some history behind them....someone must want to have a part of that heritage....?

Dave - sorry about Jerry, he is one of the cable monkeys where I work, and thus has a lot of time on his hands.. I think the boredom has sent him quite mad!

Well at least it sends it back to the top.

Alex, 'cable monkey'??!!! over to the Muppett forum for a reply to that one!

.......Back at Rose Cottage in rural Hampshire Emily and Scruff heard the sound of the telephone ringing.......Emily knew this could only mean bad news. Scruff scampered after the sound and sat expectantly by the phone as Emily wiped the baking flour from her hands on her pinafore before picking up the receiver. "Petersfield 2470, Emily Carruthers-Smythe speaking...?" she said as she placed a hand against her heavily pregnant stomach......
