Default my 98 uk turbo, 78k, FSH, leather

well im selling up after only having it for a month

basically i rushed into buying it . the car looks great and TBH i was sold just by looking at it. but after thinking about it the extra money i was going to spend sensibly modding this one i think i would be better off putting that money towards a newer car. and if im totally honest i was disappointed when i started the car next morning from cold to find it does have that infamous piston slap noise. i know loads of them do it and it isnt a big problem but i am one of the few who just gets too easily wound up about the smallest of things on cars

so anyway heres some info about it:
1998 s reg
78k
FSH
toad alarm/immobiliser and remote central locking
red leather
mot nov, tax end of april
kenwood cd unit/sony speakers (one of the best unamped set ups ive heard)
sti spoiler and colour coded trim
hpi clear
4 previous owners, last one had it 4 years (with bill of sale at £10k!)
gearbox lock
4 excellant tyres
grooved front discs
excellant good condition

bad points, couple of stone chips, display on radio doesnt show up properly, boot has the common leaking prob which i think may be coming through the spoiler, could prob do with taking off and sealling before refitting.

pricewise i would be hoping to get around £3995 ono........feel free to voice your thoughts on this though without being too harsh please

Piston slap is perfectly normal and perfectly safe on the 97/98 engines, they will easily last as long as another non slappy engine.

My uk wagon has covered 108k with piston slap with no problem whatsoever, I have heard of plenty of imports/wrx's/sti's/P1's etc that have no piston slap but have blown an engine well before 50k.

It amazes me that people worry about piston slap that goes away when the engine is warm but dont worry about driving around an imported unmapped timebomb waiting for the engine to fail
