waste of money? worth changing exhaust?
hi,have a my98 uk impreza. looking at getting apexi fc and remap and the increase in boost,(td04) what power (roughly)would this make with standard exhaust/airbox. and how much more would it make with a full decat exhaust. not looking at changing turbo/internals on this car in the future.
like to keep car quiet and legal.eg no dump valves/blitz exhausts etc.
anyone been through this surely not much difference in power at this level
car has already got bigger brakes/wheels/sti intercooler.

Hi Mate, I'm in the process of doing the same but I'm upgrading to a td05 turbo and injectors and so on. But I've put a full de-cat system on my98 already that has the full bellmouth opening which joins the turbo, AND BOY DO YOU FEEL A DIFFERENCE!
You will always be told to make simple power gains you should change air filter and put a full de-cat system on. Hope you get sorted mate
Forgot to say,try Revoution based in Newcastle. You fit one of there exhausts designed for the classic scooby and you gain 45 BHP for your efforts. And they sound very nice and not overly loud either

When I did this to MY98 reddishblue UK turbo (not that colour has anything to do with it!) I got 280bhp 300lbft.
This was PFC
Newage TMIC
3 port solenoid
uprated spark plugs (7's)
but mine was also decatted 3"
You should see figures around 260/260 I think but the slow flowing cats will really hold you back.
With a decat DP you will still make it through the MOT and not compromise the noise levels either.
