UK Turbo....P reg ........
#3
Good question.....
I have just spoken to the original owner in Scotland who purchased the car from new and he has just confirmed what the person whom I bought it off that yes it has been PPP'd, there is no certificate, it consisted of a Prodrive (stamped) backbox (still on), different air filter and modified ECU.....the car was at Power engineering recently and was dynoed at 257 bhp (Paperwork here in it's file, printouts etc...) there is no lag in the turbo which is something I have found when a car has been PPP'd too !
The car was registered August 1996 and is the 97 model ie; engine undertray etc....
Hope the above is of help.
Chris

Oh yeah, i forgot to ask what is the exact mileage and does it have a full service history upto what mileage and how many owners ??????
Also what does a 97 model consist of as you mentioned the undertray, does the 97 model have the face-lift bonnet, bumper and lights ???????
Navy Seal.

[Edited by Mellow Yellow ! - 1/8/2002 11:30:53 AM]

Hi,
IIRC 97 to 96 changes - new bonnet with new grille and vents. New intercooler, bigger and not slanted. Power 208bhp but torque up to 214 from 201 on earlier ones and comes in at 4000rpm not 4800.
Engine is also higher compression ratio, with low friction pistons, smaller turbo and revised ECU.
Heater controls are different and the front callipers are different too.
Oh, and the later one has a thicker rear ARB.
And better seats.
Think that's it.
Cheers
Rich

Is this the same car as it seems like it to me, and this one has 98,000 miles, not 90,000, according to the previous owner!
http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=53495
How did it lose 8,000 miles?

Actually Mellow didn't speak to the original owner in Scotland who had the work done. He spoke to me who had just sold him the car. I told him all that..... He rang me this morning to ask.. The original owner told me that he had had it done. No reason to disbelieve him.... Oh, and I told Mellow all about the lack of turbo lag compared to a standard car as well ....
It's a pre-facelift car - just had some of the MY97 bits as it was a very late MY96...
Cheers Mellow for being such a *straight talking Northerner* ... did the wife decide not to use the car then as you said she was going to as she liked the colour so much? Or have you suddenly got a *cash flow* crisis??
No problem with traders but dislike such a load of bull****!

Chris,
With the upmost respect, you should know that this forum is for private sales and not commerical ones.
Now whether it's you and Scoobyscene or your friend selling this car, I have to say that if you wish to advertise on the board, please contact Simon: webmaster@scoobynet.co.uk
Thanks
Andy

Not wihdrawing anything 'cos that's how it happened. You may be a trader but all I got was crud about your wife wanting a car so she'll have the silver one you came in. You'd make mine into a track day car and return your P1 to the road. And you wanted the 'Traders' bit of the reg. document sent to DVLA 'cos you wanted to put your own reg. on it... Then the 'phone call late last night to say you had a cr&p journey back and to check on me to make sure I had got back OK. Together with the fact that your wife had now decided to have my old one. Then the call this morning 'I'm having some work done on the car. How do I tell if it has a PPP?'..... So I told you.
Apologies for the filthy state of the car - I had travelled at very short notice to Newport Pagnell services from Reading and apologised at the time. 'No problem' you said.
Dent in the side? Absolutely news to me - apart from the one or two very minor dints from car doors which I did know about and mentioned to you. 'No problem'... Clunking from the brakes? Again, news to me.
Maybe you did get in touch with the first owner but the stuff about the PPP is what I told you.
As I said before I have no problems with traders (or the price bearing in mind my current circumstances about which you know nowt) just the bull^&*t I was fed!
Dave
PS: the current Parkers Guide has a Scoob with that mileage down at c. £6400 .....
PPS: I thanked you at the time for the lift to MK BR station. I'd have thought that was the least you could have done rather than leave me stranded at New. Pag. Services northbound....

OK peeps just to put this one to bed, Andy you are quite correct in stating the facts re; advertising etc.....I was already in negotiations with Simon with regards to supporting Scoobynet in the normal manner, that I believe is now nearing completion.
This is the first and will be the last time I will place an ad on this site for an item for sale, I did not mean to offend anyone nor take advantage of a situation.....I hope that in future my healthy stock of quality used Subaru Impreza's of all ages will appeal to the community as a whole....I will take p/x's up or down....arrange good rates of finance.....give a quality warranty.....each vehicle will be prepared and offered in the manner that I would expect for myself, and they dont come much fussier than me I can tell you
Hope you all feel that this goes some way in rectifying a matter that wasn't meant to cause distress !
Regards
Chris

Come on chaps lets not fall out about it. The deal has been done, but I think a few wires may have been crossed along the way.
I have known Mellow for over a year now, and know that he is an honest and decent chap as well as a fellow Scoobynetter who is always willing to help out, and has helped me out on many occasions, especially when I lost my job last year.
I also know that his wife IS looking for a Scoob so no bull there. Knowing how Chris works I am sure that everything was done above board so lets settle it there.
Dave - better for a fellow Scoobynetter to get the car than some dealer giving you about £4000 for it
Life's too short.

Dave - Stop bleating. You have got your money haven't you? You tried to sell it ages ago and failed so what's the problem. Regardless of what MY said or didn't say, I know him to be a very decent and honourable bloke.
Andy - Can't believe for one minute that you thought such an established member of the BBS would not make contact with SDB and try and take advantage of the Private Sales forum. Personally, I think that all banner ad. sponsors should either be able to post in it or have their own dedicated forum for special offers and so on. It would be wise to check with the Webmaster first before posting negative feedback IMHO.
MY - Carry on Sir. Best of luck and I hope you extend the services you offer eventually. If we had a SS or TSL in the North of England it would be no bad thing and I for one would give you my business.
Cheers

AB,
Who are you to lecture me??
I didn't suggest anything negative through my post. I only pointed out the facts.
Bearing in mind that this advert was placed before the banner ad went live.
If you have an issue with the way I have acted, please contact SDB: webmaster@scoobynet.co.uk

You retracted your comments in your second post anyway. Proves a point really. Sometimes I think the power goes to the head of some moderators some of the time. Nothing against you personally 'cos I don't know you.

I'm not apologising for my actions, only for any misunderstanding!
Of course what I really hate is when a newbie comes along and starts making sweeping statements, or people who have been here a while who use a new name to hide their real identity!

Dave,
I resent you saying that.....I told you who I was prior to coming down....if you click on my profile you can clearly see that I have a company called scoobyscene.....I also told you that my friend who was with me was in fact a Subaru car dealer and that If I didn't buy it he would.....and that's exactly what has happened....I genuinely wanted a cheaper car for my wife to "run around " in but the green one is not for her....as simple as that....! Now I made you a firm cash offer...hardly checked your car even though it was in sh*t filthy state.....didn't mess you around....took you to the station.....even gave you some sweeties (well my friend did).
So please edit your post and withdraw your statement, I dont think it's quite fair ....do you ?....the car's been valeted...it's booked in for the paintwork....the dent along the side which I couldn't see due to it's appearance....the alloys are booked in to be re-furbed....oh and on slowing up there is a clunking (brakes ?) noise that needs to be sorted......but hey....I'm quite happy to return the car and have my money back !
Oh and after speaking with you earlier Dave I telephoned the original garage who by the way are now a Saab dealership and DID in fact get in touch with the original 1st owner !!
Let me know please.
Chris
