and run into the customs and VAT officers end up costing you £453 before any shipping costs.

This is in the uk, no import tax, VAT or delivery to pay.

Lets break this down.

$19.95 for the step down
$306 for the xbox
$56 for the game
$35 shipping
$416.95 / 1.43 (todays exchange rate)
291.57 (British pounds)
Waw thats like 120 pound cheaper.
Even if import duty had to be paid (inc vat is 21% max but unlikley) still only 350 pound.
As you will only be charged duty if you cannot prove the import is not for you or a gift for someone.

Wheels, so why did you say £350 and now £291?????

Btw import and vat is actually 27.5% combined not 21% as you have posted....

Pete, good luck selling - How good is the X - Box? I'm not a big game player, but was contemplating a PS2 - but it seems this will be old hat soon - 300 mhz vs 733 for the X box (I think!) So is the X Box a big step forward? Or do I really want a Game cube ?

(BTW import duty is 4% from the US on Computer Kit, VAT is 17.5%)

sigh... don't just think in Mhz, that is not all that is important. As for consoles, it's worth waiting imho as unless you *really* need to get one quickly just wait until the things have settled a bit before splashing the cash...

xbox console isnt computer kit as such like graphics cards etc.

if they put games console on the invoice welcome to 10% import, just ask the peeps buying from dvd box office

The xbox is pretty stunning, the cube is also very good.

I wouldbnt buy a psx2 now, id wait till the drop the price when the above two consoles get there uk release then try to pick one up cheap.

But would want one of the above two as well

game cupe is for kids. Allthough the xbox is huge its awesome. The graphics are awesome. The power is stunning. No way will anything out today beat it. Its 4+ times more powerfull than a PS2. I make the Processor for the game cube and its powerful. Allthough its speed has been cut back so it would work with the memory. Its a 486Mhz processor running at 400.

Thumbs up

Godda give praise to the Xbox, the PS2 was supposed to be far greater than it turned out and is pants IMO compared with the Xbox. At least Microshaft delivered what they promised and built one monster of a Games rig. Gamecube? I know which one I will be choosing!

Cheers,

Nick
