Impreza WRX (55 plate) - very cheap for a project, track car etc
OK guys, this is a weird one but please read everything and view the pics before posting. And also please do not post if your not interested.
OK Last year i purchased a car (Subaru Impreza WRX 55 reg) which had slight damage with the intention that I shall repair it, get it legit back on road and be able to use it as a weekend car.
This is where it all went wrong.
Before going into all that ill give some background to the car itself
The car was originally registered in England on a 55 plate registration and permanently exported to The Isle of Man. The car was involved in a light car accident which i shall go into later. The car was brought back over to England and was purchased by myself and repaired to very high standard.
The accident resulted in the car needing both drivers side doors, driver side wing, drivers side rear quarter, rear bumper and drivers side rear suspension. The good thing was there was NO chassis damage so a straight forward repair was done. The drivers side, side skirt was grazed so instead I had uprated these to some Sti side skirts on both sides. The car had been kept standard as it had only convered 18,000 miles with the slight cosmetic dealer upgrades such as Prodrive mud flaps, Subaru seat belt covers, Subaru mats etc. As can be seen in the pics, the S on the bootlid had been stolen by some cheeky git. It has since been replaced
The car is now driving perfectly but requires the odd little jobs doing on it which are: Hand brake cable needs tightening, fuse for the dash lights need changing and drivers side seat airbag has deployed which is shown in the photos. I could sort these out myself but to be quite honest I have very little to no time to dedicate to the car anymore and besides have now been really put off following the situation im in
The car comes with a cat 1 Alarm immobilizer, CD player, Air Con, central locking all of which work perfectly.
The car starts, and drives faultless. It has an outstandingly mint engine which would be obvious since it has only covered 18,000 miles. It comes with a full services history and all paper work bar log books for the obvious reason it was involved in an accident.
Right basically what happened was prior to purchasing this car I contacted the DVLA asking them that if i have a car which was involved in an accident in the isle of man, would i be able to register it here. The response was, yes even if it is recorded you can do so. However in this case the car had no category to it but i didnt think it would be anything worse than a Cat D taking the nature of the accident into account.
Nevertheless, I did what i was advised, i.e. applied for the duplicate log book and export certificate from the Department of Transport in Isle of Man. Everything was cleared including the previous owners acknowledgement and I was informed by Isle of Man that the Export certificate shall be with me in the next 5 working days. However I was contacted 2 days later informing me that the insurance company would not allow the issue for the export cert as they declared the car a total loss. Yes this hurt a great deal after putting so much affort and money into the car. I actually got this info whilst i was valeting the car
Anyhoo, the situation im in is that I have a car which is a in very good condition bar the few little bits mentioned above, looks nice and everything but sadly I cant do anything with it.
I have had a few members on here who have told me to put a thread up to see if anyone can help with registering or even someone being interested in buying it for a track car or for a motorsport school
I have money in the car and would be happy to get it back but the big problem is i am borrowing my fathers mates garage temporarily and hes getting frustrated now as he has to park his car outside.
Any help would be welcome, anyone interested in even buying it off me for whatever reason, I am willing to give it for what i have in it or maybe less.
This could be a great track car for someone or a base for some sort of a kit car or even as a study material for some mechanic/motorsport school
Below are some pics of the car to show you what we are talkin about
NOTE: I am an old member on scoobynet kilo... I wasnt allowed to change my username hence the reason i now have new account
There are a few members on here that have also seen the car and also know me through the club so you are safe and this is not a dodgy car
O forgot to mention i have just over 6600 in the car so am willing to take a nearest offer
Cheers

I don't want to spam your thread, but do you know what category it was given? Mine was a Cat D, as it was uneconomical, it was repaired and its fine.
If you can talk to the insurance company you may be able to get them to sell it to you as a cat D, as it sounds like the car is still owned by the insurance co.

Now i do have a university interested in the car and ironically speaking the Department of Transport in Isle of Man have been giving them all sorts of info that they wouldnt give me. Strange how different people get different treatment.

Well i had a member on sidc looking into this with me, he suggested something similar, likewise im waiting till the offices of DVLA open to see what they suggest as i think it is possible to even get a 55 plate registration put on. Basically if i can get it to a Q plate and then show the history of the car, they can issue me plates but the main issue is the car does not officially exist in England until Isle of Man do not release the export certificate

Good question, I dont think i have any to be honest. Ill see if i can get hold of them off the auction site but its been a while since the car was purchased so doubt theyll have them. However I think i may have downloaded them prior to buying the car to show to a friend of mine. Ill post them if there are any.
