so will it work on my p reg 96 uk turbo 2000 with an sti v6 engin in it or should i get one for that year of engin

You'll need one that matches the engine. The Version 6 engine is the EJ207 and as such will need the 'phase 2' Power FC i.e. for versions F-G. The 'Model Serial No.' on the silver sticker on the side of the ECU should, therefore, read 'PFC GC8F...' (and not '...GC8A...' as this 92-96 EJ20G one would).
