Default Draytek 2600 ADSL Firewall/Router

For sale,

1 x Darytek 2600 ADSL Firewall/Router in mint condition
Still have original box and bits

If you want a high performance ADSL router this is the one to get, highly configurable but not to demanding to setup it has enough features to give you peace of mind when surfing the net.

The built-in firewall is leagues ahead of the crap you get in the domestic routers. I have been running this router for over a year and not had a single problem, the router is also updated with the latest firmeware.

Sample pic above, looks exactly the same, here is the full tech spec:

Vigor 2600 Highlights
Built-in ADSL modem - plugs directly into your ADSL-enabled line
Universal Plug'n'Play (uPnP) Support
Comprehensive Firewall - with keepstate facility, DoS/DDoS protection, IP anti-spoofing and user-configurable packet-filtering.
Built-in native VPN facility with PPTP, L2TP, 3DES IPSec and MPPE encryption
NAT Port redirection, forwarding and DMZ
Multi-NAT facility - enables a one-to-one mapping of public to private IP addresses, with individual DMZ and port-formwarding.
LAN-to-LAN linking via ISDN or VPN
VPN routing for multiple remote private subnets (between two Vigors)
VPN Passthrough for VPN client/server running behind the router
4-Port 10/100BaseT Ethernet Switch (with automatic uplink detection) for PC/Mac connection
NAT port forwarding (For individual ports, ranges and DMZ)
Support for non-NAT public subnets (multiple public IP addresses)
WAN-Side IP address is selectable from all available addresses
LAN Side IP address range fully configurable
SNMP & Syslog control/logging/monitoring
Dynamic DNS Posting, compatible with popular services
Easy configuration, monitoring & control from web-interface
DNS Proxy/Cache & DHCP Server (with ability to fix allocations)
ADSL Compatibility
The Vigor2600 router has direct ADSL support - it plugs directly into an ADSL-enabled line with the supplied cable (normally via splitter/microfilter). No additional modem is required and the Vigor2600 will automatically adjust for regular ADSL, RADSL and downstream rates up to 8Mb/s. The Vigor2600 is suitable for both self-install ADSL (also known as 'wires only') and original-style BT-installed ADSL lines. The Vigor2600 is compatible with all ISPs in the UK and Channel Islands. The ISDN models (Vigor2600X / Vigor2600W - see later) are also ideal if you have ISDN now but expect to get ADSL at a later date - the same router will work on both types of lines.

Bandwidth Utilisation Display

The Vigor2600's LED indicators let you know what's happening. As well as LEDs to indicate line status, activity and switch port status/speed, four LEDs show the current broadband bandwidth utilisation. From left to right each LED indicates 0-128, 128-256, 256-512 and >512 Kilobits per second. You can also check router status, and adjust the configuration from your LAN or remotely from the Internet.

Vigor2600 Enhanced Firewall
The Vigor2600 includes full packet-level firewall facilities, not just the inherrent 'NAT' security and port-blocking of other routers. This includes 'keep state' packet methods; put simply, this means that when a packet is sent out, a reciprocal record is kept to allow a packet coming back in the opposite direction, but a default 'deny' policy means that any packet arriving which appears unsolicited won't get through. The Vigor2600 series also features automatic protection from Dos/DDos (Denial of Service/Distributed Denial of Service) attacks and IP anti-spoofing. User-definable filters also allow you to add additional protection to your connection (see right). For added confidence, potential or foiled attacks are logged and can be reported via the router's syslog facility.

Windows UPnP™ Compatible

WindowsXP Screenshot
UPnP Device Status The Vigor2600 support Microsoft's uPnP technology. This is a protocol to enable applications behind the firewall to open ports necessary to communicate with remote users. uPnP enables users to make full use of user-to-user audio and video teleconferencing and application/screen sharing without having to manually set up 'open ports' or port redirections for each application and each user. Currently Microsoft offer uPnP on Windows XP only. uPnP is different from PnP, which Windows users have used for several years to enable PCs to recognise attached peripherals automatically. uPnP is about 'firewall discovery', gateway awareness at the O/S level, and automatic opening for traffic for applications.

Windows Syslog Tool
The Vigor2600 comes with its Syslog tool; one or more PCs can run this syslog tool so that route status and activity is continuously logged. This includes information about individual PC/User activity as well as firewall rule matching and general router operation. Syslog programs are available from 3rd parties for other Operating Systems too. The Vigor2600 series also supports SNMP, allowing an SNMP client on your LAN to monitor the router's Internet activity.

Vigor2600 VPN
The Vigor2600's VPN facility enables you to connect your network (LAN) to another private network, via the public Internet, or for remote teleworkers to access your LAN securely via the Internet. A secure 'tunnel' is established and as you are making use of an existing Internet connection, there are no long distance phone charges or huge leased line costs typical of LAN links. The Vigor2600 supports industry standard PPTP and IPSec VPN protocols, with DES/3DES encryption. Each VPN tunnel can route to multiple private subnets at the remote site.

For further details about DrayTek VPN, Click Here. As well as Vigor-to-Vigor VPNs and Windows Teleworker-to-Vigor VPNs, the Vigor2600 series can create VPNs to other Vendor's products; for compatibility, check here. The Vigor2600 also supports "IP Posting" to automatically update Dynamic DNS services. This means that if your ISP gives you a dynamic (changing) IP address, you can still be found.

Built-in Test & Diagnostics
The Vigor2600 has a plethora of diagnostic and logging tools to help you monitor your router, line and keep it all running at top performance. The internal logs of the Vigor can be viewed at any time (via the telnet interface) as well as real-time reporting of NAT/DHCP allocations/mappings and line quality from the web interface.

Vigor2600 Ethernet Switch
The Vigor2600 has a built-in four-port Ethernet switch to connect to your PCs. It is auto-sensing (10/100BaseT) and can run full or half-duplex. Additionally, any of the ports will automatically detect a crossover cable, or uplink to another switch/hub and switch to 'uplink' mode when required - no need for crossover cables or special ports. If you have more than four PCs, you can easily uplink into a larger switch or hub. The Wireless models (W/We) have two aerials on the rear panel.

Cheers mate, yep serious bit of kit but relatively easy to use.

I noticed a big increase in DSL performance after using this over the cheapy ADSL router I was supplied by my ISP.
