Did you buy from a dealer? They must warrant it for at least 3 months

Unlucky BTW

bad luck mate.
i think you should give a guide price as to what you would like and then you may get some offers(its a buyers market and scoobs just aint selling atmo)
or way up all your options and fix it if cash is not a problem.
anyway good luck with whatever you decide

grand offer stands, you'd be better off breaking it or buying a new engine

FYI I suffered a blown engine back in 2004 (ish) on my STi Ver V. Cost me just under £3k to sort back then. If you know someone in the "business" you could get it down at cost, say, £1000-1500? Take this from what you paid & that's probably your sale price.

£1k offers seem vulture like to me so I'd keep looking for a buyer. Basis for this view is that a Ver IV STi Type R must still be £6-8k to buy?

yeh i wouldnt go for the vulture offers id rather fix it. but nice try guys dont blame any of you for tryin to get hold of a bargain. i think as a minter i would hav advertised it at 6000 to get a fast sale but i think from inquiries ive made u can probably repair it for anything between 500-3000 depending on what u want uprating.

i think 3900 or best offer would be a decent bargain considering its a fresh import with a few extra bits and bobs including some konig wheels il throw in..

3900 spend 2500 getting the engine proffesionally reconditioned properly with a company that offer a warranty to have a car that's poss worth £6000. Not much of a bargain considering all the nuts ache!!

true but depends if u want to take that route ive found a company in burnley through ebay that will do all that for 1200 and also found an independant garage who will do it for even less so its worth it dependant on how much u wanna spend. then again its probably worth it to some one who can build it up themselves. i wish i did have the paitence and expertise to carry out a rebuild cos id make a monster of a machine. guess if nobody wants it il have to beak the piggy bank again... may consider a px on this should have mentioned that earlier...

If you do repair it, my advice is do not go for a cheap repair.. make sure you will be getting the same engine as the sti v4 would of had.

Doesn't seem a vulture offer to me. I got my my00 with a blown engine for £1.5k 2 years ago. Factor in a proper rebuild will cost £3k and there won't be much in it for a buyer if you price it too high. Be very very careful with cheap rebuild prices. I'd get a string of recommendations before letting a very cheap and unknown garage do the work. It could cost you a lot more than getting it done properly the first time, it's happened to me before and was a nightmare.

Come on an outfit in Burnley found through ebay willing to do it for 1200 notes you'll be lucky to get a 1000 miles out of it before the reground crank starts rattling again!!

maybe mate but im just trying to give ppl an idea of prices. i personally would fully forge the engine to try and get it as bomb proof as possible and try and make modest power as the 300 or so bhp was fun while it lasted.
