Would be interested but not at that price.
The ECU without the chip is probably worth about £80 as a private sale.
Find out how much a 2nd hand Link ECU would sell for, then knock off £50-£100 and you will be in the right region.
Your probably talking £250 as a absolute maximum....
Just my opinion.....

£50 for the Chip, as funny enough have already got an ECU.
P.S how do we know it's a genuine article ?
Are you able to state what the Chip package is as this chip package is no longer available and an alternative pair of chips has to be used and programmed with ODD and EVEN bytes.
Here's a clue to what is should be MBM2******

50 for the chip sounds nice price to me...
although it would be far easier for me to plug the new ecu straight in rather than openning it etc... but.. it is no use to you after you sold the chip and worthless then so surely no point charging more for it as a whole? or am I missing something...
Can you prove it is a Prodrive item with certificate or receipt with serial numbers on etc..?
How low will you go?
Cheers

PS: feel free to email me if you would prefer..

The prodrive ecu has to have a piggy back board fitted to it for the new eprom as i have been informed by a very good source at Prodrive ??

The ECU is genuine. You only needed a piggy back board for later ones, originals had a single chip, which in most std ECUs requires a socket fitting.
£250 for complete ECU, £100 for the chip

IMHO £150-£250 is a good buy for the ECU. I don't think you can compare the PPP with other ECU's like-for-like, it's just that they are different beasts compared to the Link, Unichip or SuperChips.
PROS:
a) PPP is a "plug-and-play" solution - easy to fit and no trip to the tuners to get it sorted.
b)It is "safe" (especially if you don't know what your doing). I'm NOT saying other ECUs aren't safe, it's just that for an out of the box config, it is safe.
c) The performance improvements are documented and proven (expecially pre-97)
CONS:
a) It is an expensive option from new
b) Not tunable - you'll get more from a Link or Unichip.
At the end of the day the ppp is worth a lot to someone who can't be bothered with the full ECU tuning malarky. No remaps required. No tuning your idle. High chance of NOT doing any damage to your engine. But if your after max performance and know what your doing, you might view the ppp as poor value for money.
If I was after a performance boost for a MY96 or older car, I would recommend it.

The offer of £50 for the whole thing was a bit of a p**s take surely....... a PPP ECU for that...I'd buy it myself!
As I've had it for 3 years already I'm not that desperate.
Price is still £250. I have 2 of them.

Scoobyracer,
The premiums a second hand car fitted with PPP Ecu attracts suggests you should stick to your guns and take no notice of what the others are saying in this thread.
If anything I would be asking for more ~£350 as it is a simple plug and away you go ECU isn't it?
Damian.

Spen,
Yeah but a PPP car has the exhaust, filter, intercooler pipes and a certificate to say the lot was fitted by Prodrive etc..
It is all a case of supply and demand, I am still toying with the idea and what ScoobyRacer is currently asking seems about the right price.
Looks like if he'd had 98 on ECU's he would have had no problem selling them.
I think it is the case that most of us driving the older cars are doing so because we cannot afford the newer ones and so money is not abundent hence you won't sell them at a high price, because there won't be any customers.
Cheers
