Are these a straight swap for standard bugeye lamps or do they require an extra wiring harness etc?

ill help you out . uk sti lights are a straight fit to a wrx unless they are the xenon upgrade which require the 2 power packs. these plug into the wrx loom ok. all jdm sti lights are xenon with packs. the lights are stickered on back and xenon have a white triangular plug

They aren't mate. Just fitted a set to my WRX and can confirm that they need a loom made up to adapt the wiring. They don't plug straight into a WRX. There are a number of how-tos on here or any auto electrician will be able to sort you out.
These lights are at a bargain price. Much less than I just paid on fleabay for mine.
