i totally under stand why you want to know the facts,,
the gearbox would take 550 bhp but it would for how long, so if i sell now at a sensible price at least i will get some money back towards the 6 speed which i hope will be ok rather than than break it and it be worth nothing.
it would be perfect for somebody who has got 500bhp

no, you are not correct.
PPG themselves have reduced the torque rating of the gearsets.
seems a perfectly sensible course of action for the OP to make
Free bump.

sorry peanuts but as i bought his old shell and engine i think you'll find i am correct.

each to their own though and a 6 speed is certainly not a bad idea.

if you have a read up about ppg they even state that they are only good for 450 bhp but there is a lot going around with 500bhp.
i want to go 6 speed for all the right reasons i think

this is problem i have, the gearbox is perfect with no faults.
i dont want to break it and then have to repair or replace the broken parts only to have to go to a 6 speed or something similar afterwards

i mite aswell sell now while its good.

im open to offers but will not seperate

For starters, Terry had a dog engagament, neither straight cut or helical, neither of which is rated to anything like 500 horse. So you are comparing apples and hazelnuts here.
