It pains me to do this as the vast majority of people I have dealt with on this forum over the last 9 years are honest & trustworthy. However I cannot say that about Mark Gibson: I bought a 16g turbo from him on the condition it was declared in working order by my local Subaru specialist.
This was not the case but Mark refuses to take the turbo back & is trying to cast doubt over the abilities of my Subaru specialist (who is such a numbskull he competes in the Time Attack series )

I just don't want other people ripped off. Cheers John

either way its not good, i've sold things on here that the buyer turned round to say they was faulty, i refunded the money and got the bits back, its not worth the hassle.

mmmuuuummmm im having trouble as well on here its such a shame becouse if we loose the trust on this site then its totaly pointless .we wont be able to sell and we certainly wont want to buy . i most certainly would like to see it stop wright now . 95% on here are genuine but how will we beable to tell soon? so a message to the none trusted go and play else were

I'm afraid to say that he (problem SNet chap) has less than 200 posts & has only been a member since Jun 2009 ... I've said it before, only deal with peeps with a high post count or long time members shame I know.

He's not saying that all low post traders are scammers, just that its extremely unlikley that someone who has been here for years with thousands of posts will do it. People will know who they are and where they live, probably!

Im more than happy to give contact details and address to anyone I sell to, and would hope that if I was buying that the seller would do so as well. Id prefer to pick up to ensure you are getting what you think you are getting, and it avoids giving paypal a cut of the cost as well.

Same as ebay..... you just can't trust someone with zero feedback as much as someone with 693 or whatever @ 100%

Everyone DOES have to start somewhere, but until they've built up their reputation, you kinda have to expect people to be suspicious. For new sellers, just make sure you collect and pay cash - and/or insist on the item being checked / tested before handing over your hard-earned.......

Genuine people will usually gladly give details, allow you to collect in person etc - so if sellers are evasive then just go elsewhere. If you are the new seller, then you have to appreciate that there are bogus people who rip others off, and as such they should expect people to be wary of them until they have built up their score.

It's a sad day when someone won't back up their guarantee though. Personally i'd be too worried about a visit from a can of nitromors to not give someone their £50 back!!!

I personally would like to only use traders with a high trade score or traders with 250ish Posts at least....

If i have no choice i rather ask the trader to trade with me on ebay as it's a little better now as Paypal give you a 100% guarnteed return of money rather than the old way which was if the money is not in the sellers account you will not get it.

If possible as said above collection is best.

sorry to here this there so much ov it going on its hard to know who to trust but personally i would not buy a used turbo without going to inspect the turbo myself there's so much to go wrong with such a important part id like to be 100% before i hand over the cash.best ov luck sorting it tho bud

Bought in August why the delay in posting up ? What's wrong with it ? Cost to fix, bought @ £100 is a pretty good price, might not be too much to fix ?

From reading his posts he seemed pretty keen to get rid, but having looked at a fair few dodgy geezers on here he doesn't come across shifty.

He did recommend sending it to a specialist to check for entry conversion and a health check, seems pretty suicidal to send it to someone like Harvey and hope to get away with it !

FWIW, cash on collection only for me now. Taken some risks on snet and not been burnt badly but no more.

He agreed to accept the turbo back at first but then changed his mind and started ignoring my emails.

i had no trader score when first joined..
a tip for you new people with no score.
i used to send bits first,no money changed hands till they were happy with the goods..
it's the best way of gaining trust...

I will admit I did have the agreement to return the turbo if it was in poor condition, but seeing as it left me in a condition that I knew was more than satisfactory for the conversion to 18G... after having it firstly looked at by a true subaru specialist (i'm not going to name names as others shouldnt be dragged into this) as the conversion to 18G was something I was going to do before a change of heart.

This agreement was not based on the fact that he seems to have mis-judged the labour or this simply isnt a bolt on job. Wasnt willing to waste money (postage etc) just because someone changed their mind or hadnt done their research.

His emails were never ignored, up until he told me him and "his biker friends" would be up my way to return it... sorry like, but i'm not being threatened like that.

I'm an honest person and true to my word, have taken loads of advice and bought £1000's worth of parts and labour off here and wasnt about to start throwing it back into peoples faces... but after being told various different stories i didnt know what to think.

I guess take this how you will, believe it or dont. But i'm going to carry on using scoobynet and will very much appreciate anyone whos gives me advice in the future

yip what a difference it makes with 2 sides to the story.

if the turbo is in working condition and was sold for £100 there is no problem. if its not suitable for his needs thats partly his fault, just simply sell it on and put it down to experience and learn from the mistake before buying another one.
