No Good
So i bought this gearbox from guide for my Legacy GTB, I fitted it this weekend, i was concerned when i took the sump plug out and found lots of grey sludge and metal filings. I contacted the seller, he said it was residual from when it broke a fork, I carried on fitting it,, soon as i put my hand on the stick i felt there was a problem, as it wasn't returning to centre (between 3 & 4) just flopped over to between 1 & 2, I just tried selecting the gears, as soon as it went into 5th there's a loud clunk and the gearshift locks solid, we tried everything to get it out of gear, but no joy. I have asked the guy for my money back as there's a big problem with it, and it was sold as good working order, ebay item 280475155597 , He's sayng i broke it fitting it!! This is my only transport, and I am an aircraft engineer with years of experience with transmissions, i fitted it megga carefully, with and experience subaru mechanic, I'm furious!!!

I'm sorry to see you got ripped off mate, I'd give him 1 more chance to return the cash then after that make him give it back. If aggression's not your thing - and I'd never recommend being violent to somebody -perhaps issue small claims court, its easy to do and only costs around £70. As long as you can prove you installed it correctly the courts will order full re-imbersement including any costs incurred ie expert witnesses, loss of earnings to attend court, court fees plus interest from the day you requested a refund - I'd do this in writing and state your intentions to take it through the courts if he does not refund. Sometimes the threat is enough to make people cough up, if not the £650 he owes would quickly become close to a grand. (I've recently recovered a similar cost through small claims) You can then send court appointed bailiffs around if they don't pay up 7 days after the order is made - I did this too, a cheque came the next day.
Good luck with it

before everyone gets on my case, don't wont to hear all that ****.
when he brings the box back next week i'll open it up and if there is a problem then i'll be happy to refund it. i was genuinely unaware of any problems as it was fine when it was last used, but has been stored for 6months.
