Hi,

My Impreza decided to break its engine yesterday. Car is still at dealers, originally thought it was the hydraulic camblet tensioner but this is still attached and working, now thinks it is the main bearings (((

Engine still runs, idles and oil light is not on but sounds like it has a bag of bolts inside.

I am currently undecided whether to fix it (not at the dealers!!!) or sell it with the damage.

Car is a 95 UK spec 5 door with 72000 miles. FSSH, air con and 10 CD shuttle, green and Thatcham CAT1 alarm. Some scrathes on the fenders and bumpers - what happens living in London.

Reconditioned engine is #1400-00. Any SENSIBLE offers please (car was worth 7500-00 before problem) and I am not interested in breaking the car.

Thanks

Alex

PS

I had just slowed down from an indicated (and downhill) 150mph when the rattling started.

Gutted dude i know how you feel. Imprezas do not like that kinda speed. Ring around some specialists dude maybe you can source a engine cheeper.

it was actually the first time it had been over 120mph, never been near a track and in 12000 miles the tyres have only worn a few mm. Shows you that driving them slowly does not make them last longer

Try Grade A for a motor for it on 01663 744114, it's not worth a lot as it stands.
