Should I be suspicious

Firstly I hope this vehicle doesn't belong to anyone on this forum.
This is an advert currently running in Autotrader.
"SUBARU Impreza , 7000 miles,
new 51 reg, 4dr , high rear boot spoiler, headlight conversion, £1100 Khan 17" alloys, £300 blitz dump value, Thatcham cat 1 alarm, 5 month tax, excellent condition & performance . £15,500. ovno"
Looking at the photo (which does indeed show a 51 reg), the door handles and mirrors are black, and if this is a UK Sept 2001 car shouldn't they be body coloured ?, I only ask, as I will be looking for a car just like this soon and having been bitten once before, by buying something that wasn't exactly what it seemed, I don't want to get caught again by not doing enough homework.
Any other key points I should look for in a V-reg or later car would be much appreciated.

Hi
Take a look at http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm as this shows model changes etc.
AFAIK it was 2000 onwards that gets the colour co-ordination...

Rich,
Thanks for the reply, the link you gave is where I have got the key facts so far, colour coding, single vane in front spoiler, six spoke alloys 4 pot front brakes. Anything else easy to spot ?
So how can this be a 2001 car if it's not colour coded ? and even if it's imported I understood cars have to be registered as per year of manufacture and hence if all cars after 2000 were colour coded it should have silver mirrors etc.
I guess I could just ring and ask a few probing questions..

It doesn't say it's a 2001 car.. AFAIK a garage can keep a car years before it is first registered.. I seem to remember seeing an E-type which a dealer had never registered or run with a 1990 plate on it.. but it was a 1970 car...
I could be talking bullsh!t.. after all I have my mouth open!

There are 00 registered and even 01 registered 99MY cars around...I have seen several.
I guess they did'nt all sell or they found a few in the corner of the docks they forgot about!
The BIG giveaways are as you have pointed out - the colour coding (easy to get done to confuse), Newer style wheels (easy again), but the hardest thing to change from 99 to 00 is the Wiper washer intermittant - this was not standard until 00MY on UK cars.

Also look for map reading lights by the rear view mirror to tell if its a 2000 model.
I think you are meant to be able to tell the year of manufacture from the tag stitched on to the seat belt but I couldn't see what I was looking for on checking mine
