Nat wouldn't get too upset as it is now an out of date model and the replacement is even better. I am getting the newer version for £499 (retail price £599) from a local camera store this weekend. Good deals to be had on the 6900 model also if you look about.

Colin,
Would this be the new S602, if so I would be interested to know the name of the shop. Just had a look at the spec and a pitty they have replaced the Lithium Ion battery with standard AA batteries. Would also be interested to know if they have improved the autofocus speed?

I had one of these last year, it is a lovely piece of kit, the picture quality as expected on a 3meg pixel camera is very good.
Its also much easier and nicer to look at than the Nikon I've got now.

Got one of these. A fantastic camera and 6mp to boot, don't listen to these people who say it is not a "true" 6mp, IMHO if Fuji hadn't patented the ideam, everyone would be doing it.
Didn't realise that they had opted for AA batteries on its replacement, what a good move
Digital cameras eat batteries, so something as easy as a Lithium Ion battery which is chargeable in the camera is a majorly good idea I think.
If uou are after a high quality camera or are used to SLR's, this is right up your street.

(ps no connection to seller, just really like this camera

Mellow Yellow can I apogize it is the 6800 that is now the old model which has been replaced by the F601. The 6900 is £628.89 in Dixons which makes your's even more of a bargain. Sorry just don't like seeing fellow Scoobynetters being ripped off for what they think is a bargain, only to find out it is an obsolete model and can be bought in the shops at a cheaper price.

I have had my 6900 for a while and it is the biz. Got some of the best action shots at the BTCC Oulton that I have had on any digital camera (trust me, I have had a few). You get around 300 shots from one battery charge, more than enough for a day out.

AA batteries win hands down IMHO.
Can't remember the last time I found a 240V socket on top of Ben Nevis when the li-on internal battery ran out.![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Gimme 12 AA rechargables any time![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
