It will only fit a MY99/00 car
![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Razz - I doubt it would fit a Sport
![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
As stated above, I'd check with BRD or MRT first

Scoty's fitted a Link to his MY98 car and it originally came in a Jap MY97 WRX.

Errrr - that's why it ran fine in a MY97 then as well as my MY00??
I don't profess to be a technical expert, *however* I do know what my eyes and ears tell me.
As above, Scoty's Link from a Jap MY97 ran fine on his MY98 - I'll check the manual tonight and see what it says on the matter. Hopefully this will put the issue to bed....
Again, if you have any doubt about fitment please check with BRD or MRT *the experts*

I think there are a few differences between the MY97/98 and 99/00 models - for example improved idle control and 10 rows for fuelling instead of 6.
This doesn't mean that an ECU designed for the MY97/98 won't work on a MY99/00 or vice versa, more that there are some refinements between the years?
Of course, MRT or BRD can confirm this
I'm sounding like a broken record now!

I suspect the 97 had a revised loom. You are right about the software change. There was a cam change between the STi4s and 5s. Meant setting up the idle on a Link was a pig (or you changed back to version 4 cams
).
The original Link site maker

Well of course the ECU from a WRX 97 or a UK MY98 are the same!
I think I stated that!
There are four types of Link ECU available from BR Developments, as I also stated before!
http://www.brdevelopments.com/link_price_list.html
Also as a side issue, does the fact that the engine specification changes that happened at MY99 not affect it.
Also Prodrive ECU's, are available in 4 flavours: MY96 and older, MY97/98, MY99/00 and WRX.
And look here: http://www.mrtrally.com.au/shop/sear...N=&PRODUCT_ID=
Again states that there are 3 ECU's for the old cars, MY93-MY96, MY97/98 or MY99/00. Although they offer both 'road' and 'rally' spec ECU's.
And here: http://www.mrtrally.com.au/performance/link.htm which is where TBMeech got his info from!
Also, you have to specify if you have a 22B, as although it requires the same loom as the MY97/98 ECU, it uses a different chip.
And the WRX Series 5 ECU is for a MY99/00 car, whether it's a UK, Euro, Japanese WRX or an STI 5 or 6.
You might want to do a bit of research before making such sweeping statements!
As a side issue, why would BRD sell people a MY97/98 ECU for a MY97/98 car with less features, when as you say the MY99/00 ECU with more advanced features would work???![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
When you say speak to BRD or MRT to confirm, I think they will tell you exactly what I'm saying!
