MY99 Dark Green Metallic 5 door - Breaking for Spares
#1
A friend is thinking about breaking his impreza, as it's been in a thump and it's touch and go whether it's worth repairing.
It's a metallic green 5 door, 1999, T reg, UK car, and has been hit on the passenger side (both doors gone), but I think everything else is ok.
He wants to know what the parts are worth and what the demand is so he can work out the best route to go. Anyone looking for bits, post an offer on here, or mail me and I'll forward these onto him.
It'll be 2 weeks before any of the parts will be available, but if you want anything from a 30k car, let me know.
The airbags and front bumper are already spoken for.

Already received a mail for most of the front bits (surprise surprise !!), but not very healthy offers IMHO !!
He needs to know what they're worth to work out what to do with the car really.
Offers ?

I'm interested in the ECU and/or the 20cm ECU portion of the loom.
I'd also have the centre hinged glove box lid if you are willing to sell either of the above.
Also the green test mode connectors (with cable) under the dash.
Mail me if interested - steve@ukmail.org.
Cash waiting.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Guys,
To answer some questions...
- Can't post pics yet, as the car is still in an insurance company pound somewhere - there will be pics in a week or so and they'll be posted then.
- Parts can be shipped anywhere (including state side) at cost. Not sure about big or heavy items though, will need to check the deal with courier companies/packaging etc.
- It's touch and go whether the car is repairable or not, and he's thinking it's probably worth more in pieces (plus he wants some bits for his next project) so unless the offer to sell complete was very attractive, he's probably going to break or repair himself.
So far there have been lots of people saying they want bits, but very few offers. He needs to know that it's worth breaking otherwise he'll probably just repair it. If there aren't a reasonable amount of offers by the end of the week, he'll probably either decide to repair it or make up a list of the main parts with prices, and it'll be on a first come first served basis (anyone posting an interest here or emailing before then will have priority, but these prices are likely to be higher than what he'd accept now). Please post offers, even if they're low, just to give him a hand in deciding what to do. If he can sell everything, even for ridiculously low prices, he'd be happier than being left with half a car and the same cash.
Thanks,

Iceman - no mail from you, unless you're deano ??
If so, the car is an estate so the rear spoiler doesn't really have a height !!
It does have spoilers though, above and below the tailgate (std uk ones).
The wheels ARE the 5 spoke silver ones !
To answer some other questions...
- The engine is 2.0 turbo and it's a 4x4, manual 5 speed.
- Not sure what number the ECU is, can check once he gets the car back.
- Car has a/c
- The car has splashguards, but they're not colour coded - just the black rubber ones.
- Interior is the std UK turbo spec cloth one. Recaro style front seats in dark blue/light blue - very smart !
I'm going to post all answers up here so everyone knows the deal - seems fairer that way.
Thanks
[Edited to say the wheels ARE 5 spokes - I initially thought they were the 6's]

Now if i were to do this....
I would have to fit a front mounted intercooler, keep the bonnet & all the sport badges & scare some turbo owners.
I can picture the thread now.......
"Help, whats wrong with my MY99 Turbo - couldn't keep up with a SPORT!!"
He He!!
Paul
PS. Sorry 4 hijacking the tread. I will leave now!

Keep the offers coming ....
Anyone asking for a price will need to wait till the end of the week I'm afraid. He wants to properly price these so he :
a) doesn't insult you with a high price and lose the sale.
b) doesn't come in so low that it isn't worth his while breaking the car.
You can be sure that the prices will be lower than a dismantler and no vat to pay (so you're saving nearly 20% straight away!).
Anyone who has already made an offer that isn't high enough (unlikely as he isn't greedy) will be given first refusal at a fair price, so keep the offers coming, even if you think the offer's too low. He wants to sell everything at the end of the day
